The Radio is running a competition to win a free meal in my favourite restaurant PLUS my DP has just got a new job after being made redundant 2 weeks ago, guess this would be a nice treat.

AIBU to ask you if you would have any clue what this could be.

The question is

"The anser is 1979" so you have to work out the answer.

Anything going on in the world right now that could be the question?

Help please :)

This day in 1979 Eddie Kidd did his famous motorbike jump. Is he local to you?

MidniteScribbler · 10/12/2014 12:55

Where do you live? That might help narrow it down.

GoodKingQuintless · 10/12/2014 12:57

The revolution in Iran was a pretty big event. Ayatollah Khomeini creates the Council of the Islamic Revolution.

BoredAdminGirl · 10/12/2014 12:57

I live in South Wales, Uk

Does the radio station have form for running this type of quiz? Is so, are there any clues on their website as to what the previous questions/answers were.

Is it that they have a question thought up where the answer is 1979 and you have to guess what it is (a reverse question/answer competition) or is there more to it than that?

Can you enter more than once, or just once?

From googling:

What year was the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy published?

When did pick someone from this list die?

When was someone from this list born?

Good luck!

plantsitter · 10/12/2014 12:59

There was a welsh assembly referendum in 1979 could it be that?

BoredAdminGirl · 10/12/2014 13:01

I'm not sure, having a look on their website now.

No further clues. I'm thinking it must be something relative, something to do with Christmas perhaps

StuntBottom · 10/12/2014 13:10

Could it be the year the restaurant opened? Or something connected to the radio station - when it started broadcasting?

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 10/12/2014 13:10

Did the restaurant in question open in 1979? If the owner is foreign born, did they come to the UK in 1979?

Any prominent local bridges/roads etc built or opened in 1979?
