DD (6) has been off colour. Well, almost green in colour this afternoon and wouldn't eat dinner. She has now told me she feels sick. Ok, I think, she has a host of GI diseases so could be the normal vomiting she does. At that moment, my phone beeps...

"Hi, just letting you know that xxx has just been sick and now has explosive diarrhoea"

DD played with xxx yesterday.

FML. I wanted to watch X factor.

Sympathies here. Ds had vomiting bug 10 days ago and has had hideous diarrhoea ever since. 3 explosions in 20 mins this morning, with a clothes change every time

He's also taken to waking up around 4am. I am going to bed shortly in the vain hope I will get something resembling a decent night's sleep.

On a possible good note for you, ds passed his minging bug onto his friend who vomited ONCE and that was it. No ten days nonsense, so maybe your dd will be made of sterner stuff too!

Sending sympathy from me as I have spent last three nights awake with my 8.5 month old ds, no d or v but throat infection which equals 20 min intervals of sleep only

Prep bed now, get bucket handy, put sheet in floor for easy clean up and go to Bedford a super early night. A dose of calpol and ibuprofen now may be a good idea to ward off stomach cramps/pain.

Sat here with DS2 who when we thought had perked up let him play with the ipad....Big.Mistake.

Do all of the above and hope. You never know. I have always had the constitution of an ox and only remember getting sick about twice during my whole childhood but obviously far more often since discovering alcohol Your DD may just feel a bit iffy. Crossing fingers for you.

Put towels down under her bed sheets. Have more towels handy in her bedroom or bathroom. Towels are your friend.

She's fast asleep. A sign that she definitely isn't well as she doesn't sleep. Ever. Do I risk a tiptoe into the front room (on the same level) or do I stay near, poised, with towels?

Oh, and fill a spray bottle up with a mixture of bleach and water. If it's Noro bleach is the only thing that kills it. Remember to do door handles, light switches, bed frame, everything she touches and more.

Ah good luck to you. There are a lot of bugs around. DS threw up on fri eve. All fri night. Sat morning. Seemed better. Then threw up this morning. Has not eaten. Will barely drink. I have now been in flat with him for two days. Gah.

I wouldn't stay poised, you've done all you can prep wise (if it's going to be messy it's going to be messy regardless) - just keep checking and good luck!

Make sure your washing machine is empty and ready for a load to be rushed down and jammed in quickly! I have been caught out like this before and had to spend five minutes transporting wet washing into the tumble drier with the smell of sick lingering in the air before I could trap the darn stuff in and switch it on!

At least if she is often sick, she will probably be at bit of an expert at it - I threw up regularly as a child and it has left me with a sort of gross superpower in as much as I can tell when I just 'feel' sick and when I'm going to 'be' sick and can usually judge to within about 5 seconds how long I have got before I need to be in position - hopefully your daughter is honing those skills and will be able to add 'oddly reliable vomit predictor' to her CV in years to come (although it's never landed me a job yet, unfortunately!).

Good luck. Used every towel in the house and every set of Pyjamas my DS had last night. Thankfully the first vomed on lot were dry by the time we reached the end of the most vomit I've seen in my life ( never mind from a toddler). Around bout 4 or 5 he threw up down my tshirt, looked at me pitifully and said "I'm sorry about that". Bless him! Hope it isn't too bad.

Good grief - is MN catching? I was woken up in the wee hours to a bed full of sick from my son, so hopefully that was the OP's allocation and she wasn't up with it too...!

Oh my. We were projectile here. Fortunately my DD is an absolute champ and has phenomenal aim, so we managed to avoid a bed (and me) covered in a wave of vomit. She woke early, is as white as a ghost and very very quiet. I'm hoping it's a passing 24 hour thing. And that I don't bloody get it (or worse, DH, as he's the biggest baby in the house when ill).

Spoke to xxx child's mother. She is still puking. Hoping we don't have more to come.

dojo might not be to do with frequency of vomiting. I was a distinctly average frequency vommer as a child, but the last time I remember puking on the floor was around 4 years old- I knew I was going to chuck but I also knew I wasn't allowed to get out of bed unless mum was there (bunk bed) so I yelled and she didn't get there in time.

The thing is, I'm emetophobic so it's actually weirdly important to me to not get 'caught out' by puking!

Unfortunately DD (2) seems to have inherited my phobia and fights being sick so badly I'm always worried she's going to choke on it. The first stomach bug she ever had she refused to open her mouth so ended up puking through her nose!

Poor you, loads about at the moment. We are on week 4 of illness, started with d an v then tonsilitis,back to d and v then a virus/water infection. 3 out of 4 dcs have a barking cough and me, just stocked up on night time -knock out drops-- cough meds.
