Anyone watching I'm a Celeb?

How does Edwina get away with ogling Jake so visibly, and the comments she makes while she's watching him exercise etc?

If Foggy or Jimmy made similar comments about Nadia there'd be outcry!

She's coming across as leering and letchy , it's uncomfortable to watch.

There are some ads on the telly where women are oogling men which are equally bad.

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 05/12/2014 17:44

Double standards. I'm no feminist, but she's getting away with things men would be crucified for.

OP posts:
Timeforabiscuit · 05/12/2014 17:48

She seems lecherous, its not a nice trait - and yes the other people in camp appear to be behaving with surprising civility!

That being said a lot can happen in the editing room!

MistletoeAndWine111 · 05/12/2014 17:48

Ew it's actually horrible to watch, makes me cringe! She sure is getting away with things that a man wouldn't be, I hope she goes soon, seen enough of her.

MishMooshAndMogwai · 05/12/2014 17:59

Awful woman! Her and Vicky sitting like cackling bitching witches round the camp fire made my blood boil, I'm v surprised when Mel gets through another night without punching them!

Her whole attitude is patronising and 'oh darling, I was in politics I have seen/can do anything!'

Vile, cringey and outdated and completely not the feminist role model I thought she'd be!

Deeray · 05/12/2014 18:00

I can't look at her without thinking of her and john major. Brain bleach needed.

MrsTerryPratchett · 05/12/2014 18:02

I'm confused. Would being a feminist make you more or less likely to approve of someone objectifying another person?

whitesandstorm · 05/12/2014 18:06

I have to say it's the first "I'm a celeb" that I don't find remotely interesting. All the previous ones have had me riveted. The choice of "celebrities" this year are dire. Hmm

AliceinWinterWonderland · 05/12/2014 18:24

I wonder if she realises how thoroughly she is embarrassing herself on television. I suspect she thinks she is being so very clever and funny. Hmm

whitesandstorm · 05/12/2014 18:29

I went off her when I saw her on a programme about welfare. Her hatred of benefit claimants was astounding.

Nancy66 · 05/12/2014 18:31

Jake is a creepy old sex pest himself.

workhouse · 05/12/2014 18:39

There have been plenty of men ogling the women in I'm a celebrity in the past.

Women really do have to be perfect these days, don't they, or they get shot down.

CaptainHammer · 05/12/2014 18:42

I thought the same!

trufflesnout · 05/12/2014 19:21

I'm no feminist

Are you serious?

Writerwannabe83 · 05/12/2014 20:33

I was thinking the EXACT same thing OP.

SingSongSlummy · 05/12/2014 20:40

Jake is a creepy old sex pest himself

Yes Nancy66, that's exactly what I've been thinking. He makes me want to puke.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 05/12/2014 20:43

I haven't really warmed to any of this year's celebs.

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 05/12/2014 23:04

Yes truffle. I am mist definitely not a feminist. Some people aren't.

OP posts:
MrsTerryPratchett · 06/12/2014 01:49

You don't want equal rights, to be paid the same for the same work as men, you don't want access to contraception, equality under the law and access to education? Weird. Possibly having the vote offends you. You do understand that not all feminists are radical feminists, don't you?

Unless you're one of those surrendered, 18 Kids and Counting women. Then, fill your boots, you're possibly not a feminist.

NutcrackerFairy · 06/12/2014 09:18

Yes Middle, what exactly does being a 'feminist' mean to you?

sooperdooper · 06/12/2014 09:25

I've only seen one episode, when she was incredibly rude and patronising to Mel Sykes saying she wasn't/couldn't be an independent adult without a man, ignorant old boot

LadyMaryofDownton · 06/12/2014 09:33

Oh it's so cring & embarrassing. I really don't like her one bit. She was never reputable & even less so in/after the wake of the John Major affair .

TheYuletideMovement · 06/12/2014 09:41

I thought when middle posted "I'm no femininist, but" that she was joking like Ant does on the programme Sad

NorksWar · 06/12/2014 09:44

I haven't watched much of this series but have met Edwina and she was lovely.

Mel Sykes makes my blood boil. If she was a male celeb who had accepted a caution for domestic violence I doubt she'd be on the show. And she's annoying.

BringMeTea · 06/12/2014 09:53

I believe the caution was 'removed'.
