When my DS was a baby there was all sorts of literature telling me how many hours babies should sleep. My DS is now 5 is there standard amount of hours he should be getting at night? On average he sleeps 10 hours at night. I have no concerns I am just curious.

My Dd is 6 and she functions less well on less than 10 hours a night but reading posts on here makes me think this is very variable.

I have in my head 12 hours but no idea where I got that from.
Ds age 6 probably gets 10 or 11 a night.
I have to wake him up for school and that always make me think he hasn't had enough.

DS1 is 4, he seems to function just fine on somewhere between 10 and 11 hours per day. A quick google suggests between the ages of four and six, 10-12 hours is normal.

At the weekends/school hols he can go 12/13 hours but with our routine during the week he don't get to bed until 8 so by the time we read and he drops off it's around 10 hours.

hat I have to wake him up too and it did cross my mind that he may not be getting enough thru the week. There is not a lot I can do thru the week tho as I get him from after school at 5 then it's home for homework and dinner then by the time we get thru bedtime routine and settled its around 8
