She suggested that I don't touch or squeeze my tendon sheath cyst and just "leave it alone". What planet is she on?! Cysts were made for poking!

It all depends on what she was trying to achieve with her advice. If your good health was her aim, then yes YABU.

If her aim was satisfying your cyst poking satisfaction then no, terrible advice, get her struck off immediately!
