"u" after "q". Why? Why not just have "q"?

ChippingInAutumnLover · 06/11/2014 14:10

Yes, the e is a bit superfluous too!

mymummademelistentoshitmusic · 06/11/2014 14:16

Especially queuing for the knee clinic.

Fudgeface123 · 06/11/2014 14:18

how would you spell queuing without the u though? qeing? Grin

adsy · 06/11/2014 14:21

qing.
We all know that q makes the kew noise.

Actually, 'kew' is the letter name, we teach the sound 'kw' in phonics. 'Queue' is a tricky word that uses unusual grapheme/phoneme correspondences ie isn't spell how it sounds.

moxon · 06/11/2014 14:34

Yes, those darn unusual words. Why bother with any of them. If only we used grunts to communicate.

moxon · 06/11/2014 14:36

Urgh, urgh ururugh urgh.

ImTheOneThatKnocks · 06/11/2014 14:42

I'm a scrabble player, there are plenty of words with a Q in with no U. I love non Qu words.

Qatar
Qi
Tranq
Qis
Qat
Suq (ok, it has a U but not after the U)
Qadi
Qaid

There's loads more but I can't remember them.

squoosh · 06/11/2014 15:27

You're so sexy when you talk like that moxon.

moxon · 06/11/2014 15:47
