None of the woman she has picked are insperational, maybe Beyonce but I dont like her faux feminism.

Also on this collage there is a certain voilent racist Geordie, a wag that's married to the guy with the hair transplant and a certain popstar who's surname ryhmes with whora who has lots of dodgy stories...

Basically it looks like she's shallow and just chosen dumb/ horrible models. I gave her a load of guardians to use but looks like she's got a trashy mag also.

Aibu?

Oh, I thought you meant because she's misspelled 'inspirational'.

YANBU in either case.

bonded · 02/11/2014 07:17

Sorry bad typo, bashing away with my chubby fingers on a small phone.

She has actually spelt it right...

They are inspirational, though.

They've dragged fame, money and a career from absolutely nothing. Clever.

And they've done this despite criminal records, lack of talent or intelligence.

Impressive, really.

Kind of shows that you really can get what you want if you fuck a footballer try hard enough.

Yabvu. Rather than "giving her a load of guardians to use" perhaps you could have talked to her about what inspires her and why. Ruining her homework because she embarrasses you is horrible.

TurnOverTheTv · 02/11/2014 07:20

Who do you want her to pick? These are people she probably will see on a daily basis in the news or in a magazine. If she's not being told about anyone else how is she going to know?

billibob · 02/11/2014 07:21

How old is she op? I would talk to her about why she thinks they are inspirational women. I would tell her about who you think are inspirational and why. It might make her 're think her choices. But it should be her own work and opinion in the end.

Have you asked her why she finds them inspirational? She might have something interesting to say about celebrity, posmodernity and media manipulation.

Or she may have chosen them because those images are easily raided from any magazine and she can whack out her homework in 10 mins.

Adele would never make the cut for me, what with being an ignorant tax dodger and all.

RedButtonhole · 02/11/2014 07:34

Maybe you should ask her why she finds them inspirational- I have no idea from your descriptions who she has actually put on there but she could have her reasons.

Maybe speak to her about who you think is inspirational and why too, maybe she'll want to add a few others on to dilute the celebrity stuff a bit..

You don't say how old she is, but maybe she just needs encouragement to think outside the box? I know at 13 or whatever I'd have put a bunch of women from my favourite rock bands.

Meant to add that I know you didn't really intend to spill your coffee on it, but I don't think criticism and making her do it again will go down well here, just find a way to make her think a little bit harder about what is inspirational.

ThursdayOfTheLivingDead · 02/11/2014 07:37

Taylor Swift too?

bonded · 02/11/2014 07:42

She's 9. Well I'm not actually going to ruin it, but it has made me upset. She finds them all "very pretty".

Gosh its a minefield, I'm trying to think of women that are relevant to her to recommend.

Katy Perry would not make the list. Always with something on show and all she does is sing songs other people have written. And was a right bitch to ts.

I like ts and her music is safe, but I boycott coke (since uni days) and she's promoting it.

OccamsLadyshave · 02/11/2014 07:45

Or get her watching horrible histories.

rosa parkes and the suffragettes have good songs.

bonded · 02/11/2014 07:50

I'm thinking about lorde, but not sure if she's a bit dodgy as like ts was signed by record companies from 12
