to accidently spill my coffee on dd's collage of "insperational women" and make her re-do it

None of the woman she has picked are insperational, maybe Beyonce but I dont like her faux feminism.

Also on this collage there is a certain voilent racist Geordie, a wag that's married to the guy with the hair transplant and a certain popstar who's surname ryhmes with whora who has lots of dodgy stories...

Basically it looks like she's shallow and just chosen dumb/ horrible models. I gave her a load of guardians to use but looks like she's got a trashy mag also.

Aibu?

Found the article, thank you so much for drawing my attention to it. Smile

The teacher isn't expecting her class to come back with Elizabeth I, Marie Curie, Cleopatra, the Bronte's and Hilary Clinton.

They're children. It's not a competition to prove how cultured mummy is.

Right racist Geordie thug has been replaced with lorde as I explained that she was a criminal.

Still trying to replace the whora girl with someone she would know, at the moment most of it is white. Would like someone of color to replace her with, is there any black woman that is relevant to young girls who has their natural hair? Don't want to use someone with a perm.

Grin You really aren't understanding the point of this are you?
Foxbiscuitselection · 02/11/2014 09:44

I think you should make your own collage and tell her about who you admire and why without putting her choices down. Might help her reflect

Foxbiscuitselection · 02/11/2014 09:47

Rosa parks

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/11/2014 09:47

Christ, you really need to get a grip.

Please tell me you are not calling Rita Ora "whora".

Oh wait - are you the poster who started threads about Rita Ora being a "slag" and another about how disappointed you were Taylor Swift was advertising diet coke, as though it were crack? Both threads deleted?

Foxbiscuitselection · 02/11/2014 09:48

What about looking at talented people - sports women or writers

Stuffofawesome · 02/11/2014 09:52

Look at A Mighty Girl website or fb page

bonded · 02/11/2014 09:52

I am getting it, but its difficult trying to explain about people she has never heard of!

Anyway I'm not forcing her to do anything, just suggesting to think of issues beyond looks.

Lorde got nominated as she posted on twitter how stupid it was to airbrush her.

Have now replaced the other one with jess Ennis , I think my interfering for today has ended. Don't think it looks too obvious that I've given her a few hints.

Why are you trying to select on colour rather than the woman's achievements? I thought you objected to your daughter selecting people based on their appearance.

The suggestion of Condoleezza Rice has been put forward but you need your daughter to want to include these people. You are pretty much doing this for her by the sounds of it and taking away her ability to think and decide for herself.

and who the bloody hell is TS?

LittleBearPad · 02/11/2014 09:54

Whilst I can appreciate that there are more inspirational women than some your daughter appears to have chosen your last comment is deeply unpleasant.

LittleBearPad · 02/11/2014 09:55

Penultimate comment, x-posted with the last one.

ChasedByBees · 02/11/2014 09:55

Oh Taylor Swift is TS? And you wouldn't want your daughter to include her because you have boycotted coke since uni? You do realise this isn't about you don't you? Your daughter is not an extension of you.

The disapproval of coke was so strong I thought you meant crack.

bonded · 02/11/2014 09:55

I rejected Condoleezza Rice because I've never seen her with natural hair

ChasedByBees · 02/11/2014 09:56

Totally agree LittleBearPad.

diddl · 02/11/2014 09:56

If she wasn't only nine, I might suggest a talk & rethink, but as she is, I'd leave it.

ChasedByBees · 02/11/2014 09:57

You are an idiot. A total idiot.

chinam · 02/11/2014 10:00

With a comment like that, you have shown your true colours.

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/11/2014 10:01

You so are the same poster!

Got your goat today?

bananaramadramallama · 02/11/2014 10:02

Cheesecake, I think the poster meant Sara Payne (Sarah's mum).
She's done loads of stuff over the years and has been instrumental in bringing about change such as 'Sarah's Law'.

OP - I think you are spectacularly missing the point.
It is your daughter's homework, not yours.
Who does your daughter find inspirational? Beyonce, Rita etc. Why does she find them inspirational?
Let her tell you her reasoning and then talk (with her, not at her), about who you find inspirational and why.

(Fwiw, I don't like your using 'tokens' in your examples either - 'a woman of colour, without a perm' - ffs).

magpiegin · 02/11/2014 10:02

This is a joke right? It's who inspires your daughter and not you! Let her do her own homework.

bonded · 02/11/2014 10:04

I know my daughter isn't an extension of me, but I'm hardly going to recommend someone that has ethics against mine.

The only ones she's added are ones she has chosen to after I've recommended.

LilAnnieAmphetamine · 02/11/2014 10:05

DON'T call Rita Ora a whore.

You sound vile and most certainly not inspirational.
