To be annoyed at someone leaving their dog

Tied outside the pub for over two hours while they sat inside drinking.

It was cold here tonight and this poor pooch was tied up to a table and left.

Its not even that his owners were within site...but on the other end of the pub where the dog couldnt see them.

Poor thing looked so abandoned. Made me cross.

I thought you might be talking about me when I left the Hound of the Schulenbergs in the car while I nipped to the chippy tonight. Chippy took forever to get the food ready, during which time Hound set the car alarm off twice. For his patience he got a battered sausage when we got home Grin.

Completely horrible to leave dog tied up outside pub for 2 hours in this weather, or any other weather for that matter. Poor dog should have chewed through his lead and buggered himself off to new, nicer owners if the world was fair.

Many years ago when I was a child we had a farming friend who used to deliver vegetables locally (small town). He would bring his collie with him and collie would sit in the truck - windows wide open - while the farmer did his rounds and perhaps stop for a chat.

If the farmer stayed too long in anyone's house the collie would beep the horn several times and farmer would rush off back to his truck.

It was a cute trick and I suspect he taught the dog to do it so he would have an excuse to be on his way.

Bet that dog wouldn't have sat around waiting in nasty weather for 2 hours.

What's the point of taking a dog to the pub if you're then going to ignore it. That's probably the dog's evening 'walk', poor thing.

Aren't dogs designed for the outdoors?

AimlesslyPurposeful · 26/10/2014 13:42

No not all dogs Sickntiredtoo.

We've bred dogs to look a certain way. Either for show purposes or for working or fighting not for the climate they're living in.

And ease of travel has meant dogs that are used to living in certain climates are now living in climates completely opposite to what the breed is used to.

YANBU. I saw a dog tied up outside Tesco for at least 30 mins (he was there when I went in and still there when I came out) and the poor little man was absolutely breaking his heart. He was crying and really howling for his owner, I was close to sitting on the ground next to him until he was collected! Sad

Wouldn't leave my dog tied up anywhere. I'd be afraid someone would take her.

NewEraNewMindset · 26/10/2014 14:12

I think that's a fairly shitty thing to do too. Not so much because of the weather but because it was on it's own and tethered.

Petradreaming · 26/10/2014 22:19

It was vile. I really felt for the poor dog. Some folk are so thoughtless.
