www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2014/oct/25/letter-to-wife-of-my-former-lover

And yes, I understand it's supposed to be lighthearted but EUGH.

OP posts:
maras2 · 26/10/2014 01:46

I read that earlier today and was reminded of the weird stuff being posted on the 'Relationships' boards recently.Seems like other peoples husband stealers are joining force.Angry

HappyAgainOneDay · 26/10/2014 07:52

OP, why can't you just be annoyed? If you want to qualify the amount of annoyance that you feel, have you heard of the word 'very'?

CaptainAnkles · 26/10/2014 07:54

I don't understand the post above.

ChillingGrinBloodLover · 26/10/2014 07:57

Captain

HappyAgainOneDay clearly doesn't like the swearing, I fear she's probably not on the right website. It's By parents for parents. Not By Pupils for Teachers though... so you know, not really her place to object to it! Nethuns>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Squeegle · 26/10/2014 07:58

I think the swearing police are out captain!

CaptainAnkles · 26/10/2014 07:58

Oh, right. Fucking ridiculous to try and limit people's vocabularies by not allowing them to swear isn't it

MaMaPo · 26/10/2014 07:59

'Fucking' is much more expressive than 'very'.

WhiH2Osky · 26/10/2014 07:59

YABU. It would have been more interesting if it hadn't been written in such flowery, Mills and Boon prose but it's hardly worth getting annoyed about.

Is it true? Unlikely. Is it your husband? Unlikely. So chill.

SpuffySummers · 26/10/2014 08:01

Fucking OW

Angry
LovelyMarchHare · 26/10/2014 08:02

It's a load of sentimental bollocks.

I could have used the words rubbish or claptrap but I chose not to.

LuisSuarezFangs · 26/10/2014 08:05

The writer doesn't seem as if she's moved on at all.

PacificWerewolf · 26/10/2014 08:05

I don't think it's meant to be 'light hearted' - I think it's of course sympathetic to the 'plight' of the OW and I do think she writes quite eloquently.

The only person who looks like a fucking twunt in that piece of writing is the MM IMO - prick.

ChillingGrinBloodLover · 26/10/2014 08:06

I'm not sure I feel the same as you about the article though. It has just made me feel sad really. Sad for all of them - I don't suppose any of them are truly happy.

^^ of course I doubt the article is 'real' but the sentiment behind it is surely the truth for many couples on here where half of it probably came from out there.

LuisSuarezFangs · 26/10/2014 08:06

I like claptrap Lovely

Fucking claptrap maybe?

pantone363 · 26/10/2014 08:07

Haha dreams of London loft living....(did that include his DC?)

Some women are fucking dumb

however · 26/10/2014 08:07

She sounds delusional.

The author of the article, I mean.

She's still basking in some aspects of the affair and telling herself it was real, even though it seems clear that he was just a lying, spineless shit. I like how she managed to weave the tiffany present into her narrative.

I suppose it more comforting to her to think like that than to admit that she fell hook, line, and sinker for his lies.

PossumPoo · 26/10/2014 08:07

What was the actual point of printing that story? Confused

PacificWerewolf · 26/10/2014 08:08

I always think 'claptrap' ought to have been derived from 'The Clap' - I know it isn't, but it should Grin

ChillingGrinBloodLover · 26/10/2014 08:08

Oh I disagree luis, I can feel her sadness.

Along with that I feel angry at the two of them having the affair. At the way they both treat his wife.

It's not that badly written really.

AgathaF · 26/10/2014 08:08

What a pile of bollocks, and yes, what was the point of printing the letter?

PacificWerewolf · 26/10/2014 08:09

He spun them both a lie - they both fell for it for a while.

I can see the need to retrospectively give some meaning to an affair to feel better about myself.

JingleSpud · 26/10/2014 08:10

Fucking does portray anger so much better

PossumPoo · 26/10/2014 08:10

Nope, the OW looks like a twunt too Pacific.

jellybelly701 · 26/10/2014 08:11

I think she just wanted to open up old wounds. Well that's if it's even real.

Squeegle · 26/10/2014 08:11

I think it's a sad article actually; yes she had no "right" to feel like that, he was married to someone else, but we are all human, and she was vulnerable enough to fall for all his weasel words.
