That two people have tried to bags by leaving their coats on the chairs? I don't think I am but I am a bit scared of what will happen when they come back.

Ooooh most exciting part of my day so far (having a spectacularly boring day here)Blush

NotYouNaanBread · 23/10/2014 14:51

Standing by for update...

ArgyMargy · 23/10/2014 14:52

Ohhhhhh yes!! Good on you! Outrageous towel-on-sunlounger type behaviour must be punished!!

honeysucklejasmine · 23/10/2014 14:53

I assume there were no other tables free?

ADishBestEatenCold · 23/10/2014 14:53

If there are only two of them, does it matter? Are there not four chairs?

Presumably you and they can share the table.

KatoPotato · 23/10/2014 14:53

How many does the table seat? Is the cafe full?

cherrybombxo · 23/10/2014 14:55

I don't think you're being unreasonable, as one person could have ordered while the other stayed at the table. I'm always wary when I'm alone and have to get up to order in case someone takes my table but it's VU to both get up and leave just your coats.

Amethyst24 · 23/10/2014 14:55

Other tables available now but weren't when I arrived. Have started my sandwich - it's not very nice.

Oh my bowels contracted slightly when I read your OP!! Shock

Hopefully you will not be confronted by angry, posh elderly ladies!

ClapHandsIfYouBelieveInFatties · 23/10/2014 14:57

Sorry for TMI by the way. Lucky your sandwich isn't nice or I could have put you off it! Grin

LemonBreeland · 23/10/2014 14:59

I would just say that I assumed they had left them behind and was planning to give them to staff, when they trip up looking for their table.

Amethyst24 · 23/10/2014 15:08

They came back Shock They were German tourists, skills clearly honed by years at the pool-side. They put their trays on the table and looked at me all confused-like, so I gave an exaggerated shrug and ate my smoked salmon wrap in a marked manner, and they pushed off to a neighbouring table.

Sorry it wasn't a more exciting outcome. To make up for it, here's a picture of my chocolate cake.

Hahaha Grin

I hope you sat on the edge of their coat, so they had to do that awkward tugging thing to get it back. That'll show them!

iPaddy · 23/10/2014 15:37

Mmmmmm cake ??

you had a sandwich AND a wrap? Shock (I'm letting the cake slide)

NotYouNaanBread · 23/10/2014 15:43

Lovely. Justice is served. :)

AnnieLobeseder · 23/10/2014 15:50

Fabulous work, OP! That cake is well-deserved.

Amethyst24 · 23/10/2014 16:10

Travelswithtea, no, I used sandwich to mean wrap. I freely admit to the cake but I am not a total glutton (ok I am actually, just not today). Wraps are a subset of sandwiches, aren't they?

OP posts:
waithorse · 23/10/2014 16:44

How annoying they didn't cause a scene. It could have been spectacular. Sad

Amethyst24 · 23/10/2014 17:16

I was spoiling for a fight Grin I was quite disappointed not to get one.

Home now and feeling a bit sick after the cake.

HesterShaw · 23/10/2014 17:18

Well done OP. That showed them!

HouseOfGingerbread · 23/10/2014 17:21

I was in a pub once and a bloke who was standing by us hung his coat on the chair my friend was sat on. The pub wasn't crowded - they'd just decided to stand at a high table. There was a coat rack available. Were we bu to mutter and glare?

Summerisle1 · 23/10/2014 17:22

Well, as my dm always used to say "It's bums what save seats, not coats and bags". That chocolate cake looks a bit of alright too.

However, I take issue with the idea that wraps are a subset of sandwiches. In my opinion they are about as attractive a prospect as eating a boiled flannel and thus should be a subset of bathroom accessories.

porgie80 · 23/10/2014 17:34

It can be a nightmare getting a table in the V+A cafe- if you have ever been, you will know that. Hate selfish people- sorry! I only brought a membership there so I could use the members lounge!

Just read that they are German so explains quite a bit.

cherrybombxo · 23/10/2014 17:40

HouseOfGingerbread I'll do you one better. My DP and I were on our first date, having a drink and a chat at a pub I frequented with friends. We got there early to secure my favourite cosy booth downstairs and towards the back (I wasn't being totally presumptuous - DP and I had been friends for two years beforehand!). We were there for a good hour or so when this large group of loud, unkempt-looking students arrived in front of us and one sat down in front of us. "Can you two move? It's quiz night and we want some comfy seats."
"Erm, no, sorry."
"Come on, there are five of us and two of you. Can you not move?"
"There are two big tables that I can see from here."
"Yeah, but it's not fair that you two get these comfy seats."
"...We got here early. It's perfectly fair."
"Look, we were running late for the quiz. Are you going to move or what?"
"No. We were here first. Get here early if you want the booth.

DP said that this is why he asked me out again, as he would have been too embarrassed to argue with them Grin
