Ewww its a visual reminder of a visual you don't really want hey.

FreeSpirit89 · 22/10/2014 19:29

Oh dear. I remember the time well, I thinks it's a phase most teenagers go through.

Stormingateacup · 22/10/2014 19:30

Normal teenage behaviour. You're getting old and grumpy! Grin

Weathergames · 22/10/2014 19:32

He is 17 - and works in customer service Hmm

ithoughtofitfirst · 22/10/2014 19:32

Oooooh good grief

AuntieStella · 22/10/2014 19:32

Does he have siblings who can tease him mercilessly?

(More effective than anything a parent can do. And you get to snigger whilst they do it)

ClapHandsIfYouBelieveInFatties · 22/10/2014 19:32

YAK! Tell him she's marking her territory. Might put him off them a bit.

Weathergames · 22/10/2014 19:33

Oh yes his sister is LOVING it - I may egg her on!!! Grin

wooooosualsuspect · 22/10/2014 19:35

Ah, young love [sigh]

Buy him a scarf.

LadyLuck10 · 22/10/2014 19:36

Yanbu it's so disrespectful to you. Looks horrible too.

EatDereksCorpse · 22/10/2014 19:37

Scarf will work! I lived in scarfs in all weather at one point at similiarities age or the straighteners were always burning me Blush

Nomama · 22/10/2014 19:37

She is branding him

Writing "This is mine" all over him

Marking her territory

Warning off other females

Making sure everyone knows she owns him

Surely boys eventually realise one of the above!

Maybe tell him his boss won't put up with it. GF has a choice: keep marking her territory, eventually it will lose its job and won't be able to buy her pretty things. Stop doing it, gain some self respect, and her plaything will still earn enough to buy her pretty things.

But I suppose it may take a while for all of that grown up stuff to sink in!

Good luck not leaping for her neck with a sink plunger Smile

LalyRawr · 22/10/2014 19:40

Ha! I came home with a huge nasty love bite when I was in my teens. Next time the boyfriend came round to pick me up, my FM gave him a packet of crisps as we were leaving.

He looked at her like 'wtf?' And she said 'in case you get hungry again, eat these and leave her neck alone!'

He never did it again!

Weathergames · 22/10/2014 19:40

We had a (jokey) discussion about it tonight and he said "it's my body I can to what I want blah blah" and I said "I made you!! (And said about work/college etc" and he said "aww Mumster" and gave me a hug - the little shite Grin

wooooosualsuspect · 22/10/2014 19:41

She's just being a teenager.

No need to over analysis teenage love bites.

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 22/10/2014 19:41

Aah - DD had a couple. I gave the disapproving look, said nothing. Then just happened to mention in conversation that I thought they look cheap and nasty. DD also works in the public sector - she appears to have taken the 'HINT' as I haven't seen one in a while. Yeuch!

neverletgojack · 22/10/2014 19:51

I used to blame the straighteners when an idiot BF used to give me them...

10 years down the line and divorced I 100% truefully burnt my neck really badly with a curler and have now got a slight permanent scar which is more visible when I tan...

fucking karmaEnvy Grin Grin

iwishiwasacat · 22/10/2014 21:13

YANBU! Ugh, they are so vile to look at when they are covering someone's neck. This is why I always made my boyfriend do them in other places!

browneyedgirl86 · 22/10/2014 21:18

I don't like love bites, have never given one as I agree they are not nice. So yanbu.

I disagree though it's disrespectful to the parents? In my eyes it's nothing to do with them. It's not nice for parents (or anyone to see) but it's their business. If he works in a customer facing role his boss may make him cover it. As a teen I worked with the public and the boys would regularly be given a plaster to cover up the love bites. That and the pics taken out of them by colleagues usually stopped it.

WorraLiberty · 22/10/2014 21:18

When I was 14yrs old, I tried to give myself a 'love bite' using the hoover nozzle just so the girls at school thought I had a boyfriend Blush

It didn't work...it just looked like ringworm.

browneyedgirl86 · 22/10/2014 21:19

The pics? Silly iPad. I meant the piss taken out of them.

EatDereksCorpse · 22/10/2014 21:20

worra we're you blushing as you wrote that?! Grin

never I actually burnt myself with straighteners and no one believed me and assumed love bite!

Andrewofgg · 22/10/2014 21:21

WorraLiberty Grin

OP Switch off grumpy mode. They are young. Bless them!

WorraLiberty · 22/10/2014 21:22

TheJiminyConjecture · 22/10/2014 21:23
