Totes agree with you OP. Do you have any mates?

Wolfiefan · 20/10/2014 23:00

A few. But I'm hoping for kittens here soon!

But why do teachers all work part time?
Can you explain? I don't get it?

OwlinaTree · 20/10/2014 23:01

Yes more inset days! Preferably every other Wednesday.

Philoslothy · 20/10/2014 23:02

I think at least once a week, good for the biscuit industry.

Wolfiefan · 20/10/2014 23:03

Great idea. You can never have too many biscuits!!

Yes. As a teacher I can confirm that we spend INSET days drifting around a vast empty school, drinking coffee and booking our next holiday.Wink More please!

2kidsintow · 20/10/2014 23:10

Oh yes please.

After all, starting and 9 and finishing at 3 is just such a long working day.

simontowers2 · 20/10/2014 23:10

Bloody hell. You'd think teachers were the only profession that has a hard job the way mumsnetters bang on. They get 13 weeks hol a year, fact. I used to live with one and she was always home by 5 and i never saw her doing any work on an evening. She also spent 5 out of the 6 weeks of the summer hols in Spain. Apart from nurses, i cant think of another profession where martyrdom (sp) seems to be the default setting.

RedSoloCup · 20/10/2014 23:11

lol I love inset days as zoos etc are less busy

my kittens have gone to bed - my hand is a limp or shredded meat - they are feisty buggers but they have spent the evening alternately sleeping under the sofa and tearing around like maniacs - I love them Grin

Haggisfish · 20/10/2014 23:12

We are all part time because it is physically impossible to teach full time and do all the marking and prep in that time especially if you have a family!

misselphaba · 20/10/2014 23:13

Teachers finish at 3.30 don't they? They could probably fit in a bit of training in the evenings if needed.

OwlinaTree · 20/10/2014 23:14

OwlinaTree · 20/10/2014 23:15

Finish at 3.30 and half a day to plan a week!

Wolfiefan · 20/10/2014 23:17

I luffs kittens!

ghostyslovesheep · 20/10/2014 23:21

teacher should train in their sleep - lazy bastards

Wolfiefan · 20/10/2014 23:24

Teachers don't sleep! True dat. They lives in the cupboards at skool.

OP posts:
ghostyslovesheep · 20/10/2014 23:25

fact !

rollonthesummer · 20/10/2014 23:25

How much planning can they have to do, anyway? Can't they just reuse last year's lessons?!

misselphaba · 20/10/2014 23:27

Categorically not true. I served a teacher when I was working in M&S once. And someone from the boy band Blue.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 20/10/2014 23:28

Lots more.

It would give teachers more time to sit around and think up cuntish behaviour specifically designed to annoy parents and disadvantage pupils

Chippednailvarnish · 20/10/2014 23:28

I think we should have professional death matches - teachers v's nurses, pharmaceuticals v's politicians, etc.

We could televise it and replace the x-factor with something more interesting...

Wowthishurtsalot · 20/10/2014 23:33

Lawyers vs social workers would be a good one

Like a battle of the suits vs the hippies

Chippednailvarnish · 20/10/2014 23:49

Bankers v's Doctor's receptionists? The winners could then take on the Lawyers (I can't see the social workers winning).

Estate agents V's recruitment agents would be good...
