I went a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday and it was fine. You have to book a slot when you buy your tickets and they only let 130 people through at a time so they keep some control over the crowds. It's brilliant and well worth a visit!

Letitbee · 19/10/2014 17:53

Oh wow thanks ! I have just been so busy with work I was getting quite stressed thinking about it . Any hotel recommendations ;)?

They only let a certain number in for each session. So it is either at full capacity or lower. Full capacity isn't heaving, if I remember :)

There's a premier inn not too far away. Dd and dh went and said it was great. As others have said, they regulate the number of people. To be honest, it is always pretty much fully booked no matter when you go.

Whatisaweekend · 19/10/2014 18:00

We went in the summer hols and I was anticipating it being heaving but it really wasn't. Absolutely brilliant - even non-HP fans ds and dh enjoyed it. Turns out Butter beer is absolutely filthy though!!

Letitbee · 19/10/2014 18:00

lol Nothing for half term at all !! Now what to do arhhhhhhh

Butter beer is truly awful - and they know it there's a special bin to put it in!
It's well worth going though, and not overcrowded due to the ticketing system. Great day out if you can get tickets another time.

whatwhatinthewhatnow · 19/10/2014 18:06

Butterbeer is just cream soda and butterscotch syrup, with melted ice cream for the froth. Rankety rank. We booked about 2 months in advance but we went at Christmas.

LEMmingaround · 19/10/2014 18:13

Keep checking the website as slots come up all the time. We were devastated when dd's birthday was booked. We looked on the website the day before and thete were tickets. We couldn't believe it. I made dp call and check!

They will not let you in without booking.an American family were trying when we were there and they were having none of it.

I really liked the butterbeer.

you will need deep pockets as everything is ££££

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 19/10/2014 18:54

I was told to block the earliest available slot which is about 10am, then you have no one infront of you.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 19/10/2014 18:55

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hated butterbeer, my friends and sister loved it.

woodwaj · 19/10/2014 19:16

Butterbeer is rank! But you have to try it dont you! Im not even ashamed to admit ive been 3 times!! Go at christmas they get the decorations out and it looks fab! Most hotels are only 15 mins away in the car i think we stayed in one called the park inn (cant remember exactly) and they charged to park so avoid that one! Like everyone else has said they stagger groups in. But you can stay in as long as you want once your in. Tour takes about 3 hours. Defo give the kids a budget as others have mentioned gift shop is expensive and massive i booked all my trips through the co op travel they did hotel and tour tickets and its ranged between 50 and 70 per person depending on the time of year we went. Enjoy!!

Taz1212 · 19/10/2014 19:17

I thought the butterbeer was vile, though I did like the one at Universal Studios sickly sweet though it was...

We went in the summer and it was fully booked but didn't feel overly crowded.

Suefla62 · 19/10/2014 19:50

Took my Grandson when it was fully booked, we picked up a day before cancellation. Very well organized and well worth the trip, it wasn't overcrowded at all.

Aherdofmims · 20/10/2014 11:14

Thanks for posting this - I was planning to go on Monday 3rd (inset day) and hadn't booked yet. This reminded me to book and glad I did as I could only get 3.30 pm!
