To ask how baby 3 impacted your body?

To mums of 3 (or more) - did having a third baby impact your body more than the first two? Was pregnancy harder/same and what about the impact on your figure after?

After two babies I look almost as I did pre baby although it took a little longer to get it back 2nd time round. I am pretty disciplined about excercise but am a bit scared after two easy pregnancies/recoveries that number 3 will ruin me! Is it possible to end up the same again after 3 (and of course regardless I will be eternally grateful for another little bundle of joy regardless I'm just interested to know Grin )

I was fine after 2, 3 destroyed me. Little buggar Grin

Number 2 destroyed me. Number 3 hasn't made it any worse.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 12/10/2014 20:51

Many years ago now but number 3 made had no difference to the others in terms of recovery and weight gain/loss

sydlexic · 12/10/2014 20:52

Baby 1 did the damage, 2 and 3 made no difference.

crazykat · 12/10/2014 20:56

Baby 1 I'd lost weight compared to pre pregnancy.

Baby 2 I found it a bit harder to lose the weight.

Baby 3 and 4 I just didn't have the energy to do enough exercise and also developed two slipped discs in my back which really limits the amount if exercise I can do. In all I've put in 2 stone since before having kids which I don't like but isn't too bad. I'm getting serious with trying to lose it now, its hard though as due to my back I have to mostly do not by citing down on what I eat rather than increasing exercise.

If no 3 doesn't get you, the menopause will.

crazykat · 12/10/2014 20:57

Should add that I've always had weight problems and had lost loads not long before getting pregnant. It would probably have been easier to lose the weight if I hadn't slipped back into old eating habits while pregnant.

LizzieMint · 12/10/2014 20:58

3 destroyed me too! Had spd in pregnancy which I'd never had before. Never got back to pre-preg weight third time whereas the other two I was back there within about 6 weeks.

I also mostly just feel old although that could be entirely down to me actually being old and having 3 small children to run round after rather than pregnancy.

whojamaflip · 12/10/2014 20:58

Number 4 was the one - managed to lose the baby weight beautifully after no 3 - 5 yrs after no 4 I'm still carrying an extra 2 stone Hmm

After 2 children I think I returned to near my original shape and size albeit a little squidgier in places :) but that was in my 20's. I had my third aged 34 and it took a bit longer for me to feel happy in my skin. Our bodies change anyway as we get older and chasing the pre kids body would only make me miserable! I am proud of how my body has changed and what it has done, so don't get hung up on a few pounds and some stretch marks.

WorraLiberty · 12/10/2014 21:05

My 3rd didn't have much impact on my body, but then again nor did the previous 2 really.

I had my first aged 22 and my third aged 33.

dementedma · 12/10/2014 21:05

Never lost the baby weight after no 3. He's nearly 13.

WoTmania · 12/10/2014 21:10

None of mine impacted massively - got back to pre-preg weight fairly quickly etc.
Only thing I would say is that I have really small gaps and the pregnancy itself was really hard work.

Missdread · 12/10/2014 21:54

Baby #1, very little difference: I was actually in far better shape when she was 1 than I had been before I was ever pg. Baby #2, quite a few stretch marks but my boobs and tummy still pinged back okay. Baby #3. Huge 42+1 almost 10lbs forceps-delivered boy. My stomach is a total mess. Abdominal separation, terrible saggy skin, stretch marks, just awful. I am quite fit, 5ft 6 weighing 9 stones but seriously, the Mum Tum is bad. 3 was the killer! But I love him so! ;-)

littledrummergirl · 12/10/2014 22:51

I was ill pretty much right through with number 3. Dropped 2.5 stone and 3 dress sizes.

MummytoMog · 12/10/2014 23:36

It's only two weeks later but I'm definitely snapping back quicker this time than last time and that was quicker than the first time. However each pregnancy has been more difficult and this one was a bitch.

Purplepoodle · 12/10/2014 23:36

3 wrecked my body but he was 11lb odd and over due. My stomach didn't go back and developed an over hanging gut. Loads more stretch marks and my boobs aren't the same.

After first two my body pretty much went back to normal this time my stomach hasn't and iv developed a thickened waist which I never had before.

wobblyweebles · 13/10/2014 00:15

The third didn't make any more difference than the first two. I didn't get any stretchmarks with any of them. My belly button will never be quite the same but I weigh about the same now as I did pre first pregnancy.

Levismum · 13/10/2014 01:04

Dc1 did all the damage in my case! Stretch marks were shocking!

Dc6 is 8 months old. I could get into my jeans when she was 8 days old.

People are shocked when I say I have 6 dc. The only thing I noticed after my last baby was my tummy / pelvic floor was slightly worse. Nothing a bit of exercise couldn't fix!
