To really enjoy playing with hot candle wax?

TheCunnyFunt · 09/10/2014 13:50

I love having candles lit, then when the wax has melted sufficiently I dip my fingers in it and let it go hard. I sometimes dribble the wax on my hands too. It fascinates me with how quickly it cools and goes hard!

DP thinks I'm barmy. He has clearly never known the joy of pouring hot wax on your hand, watching/feeling it go cool and hard and then picking it off!

Am I being weird?

Probably. But I like it too. So we'll be weird together. Grin

Spindarella · 09/10/2014 13:52

Oh I LOVE doing this! then remelting it and doing it again.

YANBU!

WorraLiberty · 09/10/2014 13:52

Oh, I thought this was going to be a kinky thread Blush Grin

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 09/10/2014 13:54

We'll if you are I am too.

Candles fasinated me.

Btw a tip to get candle wax off fabric. Use a hot hair dryer and see it melt. Then you can mop it up.

That's fascinating too. Smile

TheSpottedZebra · 09/10/2014 13:54

Did he never play with pva glue at school?

Vitalstatistix · 09/10/2014 13:54

erm. I don't think I meant that quite how it sounds.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 09/10/2014 13:55

Trust you worra Grin

StripyBanana · 09/10/2014 13:56

Me too warra...

Sallyingforth · 09/10/2014 13:58

Superglue is fun to play with too. Try rubbing it between your hands :)

TheCunnyFunt · 09/10/2014 14:01

Ooh thanks TheBody, I'll remember that!

I'm so pleased I'm not alone!

Worra this isn't Friday night you know

I don't play with candle wax, but I love to spread white glue on my hands and then peel it off. I'm willing to accept that I'm a weirdo. Smile

TheCunnyFunt · 09/10/2014 14:03

I never really got on with pva, I tried it once but it didn't work for me.

YANBU I love it. Always have. Especially if they are beeswax candles when the smell is so delicious.

RiffyWammal · 09/10/2014 14:22

Oh my god I LOVE doing this and have just introduced my DGD to the joys of hot wax finger moulding (irresponsible DGM alert). We light a candle, watch a studio ghibli film, blow out the candle and then play with the pool of wax to our heart's content. I like to let it harden then gently prise the mould off in one piece, I then alternate between sniffing it and rubbing it on my lips. Yes, I am strange. I also like to sniff and chew the little bits of see-through glue that affix perfume samples etc to magazines, but nothing beats the feel of hot wax cooling and hardening on your skin!

justmyview · 09/10/2014 14:30

For a laugh, my friend and I once went to a sex club in New York. Guys were queueing up to have the hosts melt candle wax on to their backs .......

squoosh · 09/10/2014 14:36

I do this too. I worry that it's all very Madonna circa Body of Evidence but who cares, it feels so good!

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 09/10/2014 14:43

Wow it's a support group. Grin

TheCunnyFunt · 09/10/2014 14:47

I'm home

Victrix · 09/10/2014 14:52

I do this too.

I did once set my hand on fire in a restaurant though. That was slightly embarrassing Blush

Peepants78 · 09/10/2014 14:56

Drives my DH mad when I do this, he's convinced I'll hurt myself. I spend ages happily adding wax leftovers to other candles, much like someone repotting plants!

I had a brilliant babysitter who introduced me into the joys of melting wax. We used to make little mice.

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/10/2014 14:58

Yes, hard fingerprint cases. Mmmmmmm. Try tapping them on a surface after they have set. Lovely. Then. peel the fingerprints off and remelt them.

I'm a weirdo, aren't I?

TheCunnyFunt · 09/10/2014 15:03

It's ok MrsTerry, we all are.

OP posts:
ArsenicFaceCream · 09/10/2014 15:27

Oh no MrsT. I do that. I'm not weird at all

The one time I met a SOCO type person I wanted to ask him about the criminal mastermind type possibiliies of wax fingertips, but I was worried he would look at me oddly Blush

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/10/2014 15:30

I have great conversations with the firefighters I work with about stuff like this. They're all a bunch of weirdos too. We're in good company. I'm sure the SOCO would be too. Maybe we need a special wax-covered handshake.

ArabellaTarantella · 09/10/2014 16:00

Sqoosh beat me to it - I was going to ask if you are Madonna, OP!
