To be annoyed about the clarks advert on here?

So I need a new pair of winter boots, was looking at what Clarks had a few weeks ago. Didn't 'love them' but there were a pair that were ok - but a bit too much to spend for something that would 'do'...
Advert pops up use this code for a 20% on Women's shoes & bags...alternating with images of the boots I looked at before...
With 20% off they would still be a bit more than I wanted to pay but they are the best I've seen so far ...thought why not?
Go through all the trauma of logging in to their website (it had forgotten my log in details, ended up re-registering). Get to near end of check out enter code -no discount. Repeat. Change the format of code. No discount - pick a random pair of SHOES put in basket - I get the discount on the shoes only - because of course the code is for shoes not boots...
So AIBU to think it is all a bit misleading and be very tempted to never ever buy from Clarks again?

I have 'noscript' but it often causes 'problems' ...part of the reason I thought the code wasn't working...
perfect Was going to try that but I think Clarks are onto me trying to screen shot and first of all ad had an image of the random shoes I'd put in my basket and now it has disappeared altogether - grr...
And actually not sure I want to give them that much money now anyway...
