To ask for suggestion for my birthday party?

Just that really. It's my 30th in January. I'm going to be celebrating by having a party in a local function room. I'm not normally into having parties that are all about me but since I'm going for it want to ensure it's fab!. Any ideas to make my party extra cool would be much appreciated please!!! Thanks xx

More info needed. What kind of party - friends, family, any kids? Time of day? Food or not? Are you/your friends into a certain kind of music or anything?

It will be celebrated with friends of a similar age on a Saturday evening. They'll be a dj, food and a bar. I just wondered if anyone had been to a party where they done something a bit different to make it stand out a bit, add a bit of fun!

My 30th will be 3 years ago in Jan! Eeeek. I hired a restaurant, had a transvestite DJ (sounds appalling but he/she was sooo cutting and clever and funny), we danced, ate, drank a lot and the entire thing was vintage themed because that's my love. Just make it about YOU. I had an amazing night, I'll never forget it :)

I know it's cliche, but I'm a sucker those silly photo stations with props that you can rent.
