How else has IDS hung on to his cabinet post for soooooo long? He knows where the bodied are buried.

OP posts:
wowfudge · 01/10/2014 15:41

At the risk of being flamed, he has half a brain (for a cabinet minister) and actually cares about what he is doing. I don't think his deputy is up to much, so it may be a blessing.

No, I don't vote tory, but I do have a bit of inside knowledge.

Dawndonnaagain · 01/10/2014 16:15

Of course he cares about what he's doing, so did Hitler. Hmm

Nancy66 · 01/10/2014 16:19

his views are popular - not with Labour voters - but there's not much point in a Tory government implementing polices that benefit people who'd never vote for them in a million years is there?

Smilesandpiles · 01/10/2014 16:22

It must be good to screw up so much that ATOS leaves, has a computer system written of at the cost of millions, try to get another install that won't cope and a flagship policy that is costing billions (we're suppsoed to be skint remember) that is a massive failure and a disaster waiting to happen.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 01/10/2014 16:29

Maybe DC is into bondage and has a gimp mask.

has a crush on David Cameron

Smilesandpiles · 01/10/2014 16:31

Or photos of DC up to his nuts in Boris.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 01/10/2014 16:37

Now theres an image I didnt need to think about.

Bad enough I found Cameron/Clegg porny fanfiction.

limitedperiodonly · 01/10/2014 16:45

Irritable Duncan Syndrome is consistently my most despised person in the Conservative Cabinet. Followed in descending order by:

Chris Grayling
Grant Shapps
Gideon
Dave
Sajid Javid

ATM I feel fairly benign about Pickles, Hammond, Hague and May but I'm keeping an eye. I quite like William Hague.

Jeremy Hunt and Baroness Warsi have dropped off my watchlist for the moment because they've been neutralised because they are dolts.

It's weird that I find the Prime Minister and his henchman Chancellor not higher up the offensiveness league table.

I found Gideon's hairdo quite interesting. I liked the cut but I thought there was too much product. Does anyone else have any thoughts?

I wouldn't do him, btw

Smilesandpiles · 01/10/2014 17:03

I'll only take an interest in Gidiots hairstyle when I've finished stamping on his head.

JudysPriest · 01/10/2014 18:40

This is clearly well sourced and true.

....to wonder what IDS 'has' on Cameron?
Anniegetyourgun · 01/10/2014 18:41

He has half a brain? Whose is it?

limitedperiodonly · 01/10/2014 19:05

When I say I wouldn't do Gideon, I mean I wouldn't take him out.

Oh, actually, yes I would. But not for a drink.

Charitygirl1 · 01/10/2014 19:09

Wow, I have a reasonably objective and close-up (ish) view of several Cabinet members and the one thing no one ever claims for IDS is 'half a brain'. He really isn't bright. Was it Osborne who was reported as saying just that?

I too am staggered he's still in that role. He's been caught fiddling the figures on so many policies.

limitedperiodonly · 01/10/2014 19:17

Half a brain is really going some for IDS.

He is staggeringly stupid and a liar.

He's still in his job for a number of reasons. Principally because he's on the extreme right of the party and Dave is desperate to hold onto them and also because he's tinkering with welfare and Dave doesn't care about that because no-one who cares about that would vote Conservative anyway. In fact, it would garner more votes.

I fucking hate him.

limitedperiodonly · 01/10/2014 19:22

In fact, Iain Duncan Smith would be over-promoted if he was a assistant manager of a motorway service station.

Greengrow · 01/10/2014 19:40

He is a very good man. We are lucky to have him. Although I don't think he is going anything like as far as he needs to on universal credit. People will still lose 66p in every pound if they increase work.

Campaspe · 01/10/2014 21:26

Astonished that anyone would defend IDS. I have some inside knowledge, and he is not bright and the department he runs is a shambles. Can't say too much. Certainly, he is a liar: take a look at what wiki says, and think about why he won't sue. He speaks to his staff in an offensive way, and is openly mocked by the Treasury.

Smilesandpiles · 02/10/2014 07:39

So why is he still there? Why does he still have that job?

Greengrow · 02/10/2014 19:29

That will be low paid low calibre civil servants having their usual moans - to be taken with a pinch of salt. It is the politicians who do not annoy the civil servants who aren't doing their jobs.

Beauty of the internet - you get to meet the IDS fan club and we help persuade of the good he does.

Idontseeanysontarans · 02/10/2014 19:46

I know a couple of low paid 'low calibre' civil servants - now THEY are the ones who know where the bodies are buried!! Grin
IDS is still in a job because he's DC's fall guy. IDS comes out with the heartless DM style shite and looks like a bastard who would take food from the mouths of children whereas DC can be the smooth tough talking PM who 'really cares'.
When DC goes down he'll take IDS with him.

Taz1212 · 02/10/2014 20:07

I'm a Tory voter runs away and hides and I can't stand him. I think he's a horrendous liability and I wish he would spontaneously combust.

joanofarchitrave · 02/10/2014 20:11

Thank you Taz, you're a healing breeze.

Thinking about it at length, I do in fact mistrust 'Grant Shapps' more than IDS. I think IDS is a true believer in his own policies, which is terrifying, in a Gove sort of way.

redexpat · 02/10/2014 20:23

Maybe photos or knowledge of a soggy biscuit incident? Wink Grin
