To ask should I get a used car warranty?

Buying a 3 year old nissan car from car giant. Can't decide whether I should get a warranty. Car giant offer 3yrs for 700 other online warranty schemes vary £400 -£1200.

I'm just not sure if they are worth it. Do they actually pay out or do they always find a reason not to. Does anyone have any experience? Would you recommend?

Sorry posting for traffic as I need to make a decision soon

We got one as they were offering it as a package with a bunch of other stuff which we were interested in.

Clutch failed 3 months later. They fixed it for free - no arguments at all. (Clutches aren't supposed to fail on cars with that little mileage.)

But I probably wouldn't bother if it was hundreds and came with no other benefits, or was on a car with highish mileage as they don't cover wear and tear.

Clutches can often come under "consumables" and be exempt so make sure you read any warranty very very carefully before you agree to it.
We had a year warranty on our last car, clutch went within 3 months and was fixed by dealer however, when it started to show signs of failing again we tried to claim on the extended warranty only to find it wasn't covered.

Read the small print.
