I feel ashamed by the surge of excitement I felt when I read he was going to be on this series of Strictly.

I met him earlier this year at Longleat - he was very firm to the touch, for sure . And lovely, which was an added bonus .

I met him recently too. He was signing his new book to my children's delight and I admired him for quite a while. The queue was very long.

I agree with Dartmoor's comment - I said that to DH when I was commenting on Steve and Mark Wright standing next to each other: Steve's muscles are from being a genuine outdoors action man, not some spray-tanned Essex gym!

I don't normally watch Strictly as really not my thing... but I didn't realise Steve Backshall was on this year!

I also have the perfect excuse to watch as DS1 thinks he is awesome too (big Deadly 60 fan, although he regularly points out that they must have had way more than 60 animals on that series so far )

I'm hoping his presence means I actually get to watch this series of Strictly without moans from DS1. His hero on Deadly 60 can surely still be a hero when he's dancing right?

I especially enjoy the Deadly 60 episode when he gets towed behind a boat to show how fast a tuna swims. I'm sure the clip must be on YouTube somewhere

He's got quite a weathered face - from the great outdoors. But the man has rhythm. I'd go on a snake wrangling expedition with him any day of the week. Oops Strictly has reduced me to a middle aged perv!

I couldn't have given less of a shit that he was on strictly this year. But I found myself coming over all unnecessary.... Most unexpected but not at all unpleasant!

But his face is so ugly!! All the muscles in the world can't make up for that.

I don't usually go for the muscle types but he got those doing outdoor stuff rather than posing in a fun and I like outdoor types..
I don't think he is gay you know, I read an interview with him where he's talked about not being able to keep a girlfriend because he's away so much. Doesn't really matter, for a start I'm married!
