to be annoyed with this mother

She's posted on FB that she doesn't care how bad her son's cold/cough is, she's sending him to school tomorrow because she's got nothing done. Does she not care about spreading it to other children in the class at all? Colds/Coughs can be serious for children with other health issues.

If you kept a child off for every cough and cold they'd never be in!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 25/09/2014 20:14

That is very thoughtless of her. And her poor child just needs to be kept at home and looked after, not sent off to school, ill and miserable.

She is being very selfish.

formerbabe · 25/09/2014 20:14

I think its fine to send a child to school with a minor cold/cough. Temperature is a different matter. Schools are full of snotty, spluttering kids.

DancingDinosaur · 25/09/2014 20:16

It is annoying when people do that. I have one who posts on fb that dd has been sick, but she's going to give her calpol and send her in anyway the next day. A few days to a week later the rest of the class starts going down with it. It must have happened about 5 times since I've known her.

DefiniteMaybe · 25/09/2014 20:17

Mine don't get time off for colds. D and v is totally different and time off is necessary but the world doesn't stop when you have a cold, you dose yourself up and carry on.

BlotOnTheLandscape · 25/09/2014 20:19

I agree with the minor cold/cough thing but if he's been off ill for two days then presumably it's more than that.

It does depend on how bad the cold is, but it sounds as if she'd send him in even if he had a really nasty cold, and that wouldn't be fair on him, the other pupils or the staff.

formerbabe · 25/09/2014 20:21

Anyone else finds colds seem worse in the morning? My ds has woken up looking really ill, I've kept him off and by midday he is back to his old self!

AliceLidl · 25/09/2014 20:23

She may just be sounding off after a difficult day and not really intending to send him in if he is too sick to go.

LEMmingaround · 25/09/2014 20:23

I disagree definite.

Unless of course you are going to send your child into school with calpol or cough mixture to take at the appropriate intervals.

As an adult you have the choice. You know if you feel too shitty and can dose yourself up with all and sundry. The school are not allowed to administer medicines without a load of faff. If a child is poorly enough to need calpol etc they should be at home. They are ok til it wears off then will feel awful.

Can't be doing with all that stuff and nonsense bullshit

ApocalypseNowt · 25/09/2014 20:23

formerbabe Yes, absolutely. Colds are worst first thing in the morning and last thing at night. The middle bit is often surprisingly ok.

Aherdofmims · 25/09/2014 22:10

Depends how ill he is. If he's well enough to go, he's well enough and shouldn't miss school, i.e. With a minor cold etc. if he's too ill he should be at home.

Was she has got done is nothing to do with it!

Mind you if he is properly ill he should be curled up in bed and wouldn't disturb her much ESP at school age.

Aherdofmims · 25/09/2014 22:11

Why do they post on fb thought? If I was planning to do something I thought was a bit dodgy I wouldn't publish the fact!
