I mean what's not to like? I get an uninterrupted sit down, with a book and a coffee for an hour! And god bless those delays, then I get even longer! Plus, I'm not even contactable by phone for most of that as I'm underground.

I used to love commuting. That was before I had DD though. Now just the thought of having to leave the house 2 hours before work is tiring.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 24/09/2014 09:19

It's nice and warm on the tube at the moment. I'd forgotten my scarf yesterday and I was quite glad to get on an nice warm train.

flaming see I love it now that I have DS as its a nice little break from reality. It only takes me 1hr to get to work though and DH does drop off at nursery so my mornings are quite relaxed.

If you get a seat then you are v lucky. I never got a seat on my old commute and I hated it as I have a tendency to pass out If I stand in one place for too long, not fun!
But now I'm at home with a toddler the idea of a sit down with a book and coffee sounds divine!

Loandbehold · 24/09/2014 11:42

But the smells! And the sniffing!

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 24/09/2014 11:44

Op you need professional help. That is all. Grin

BauerTime · 24/09/2014 11:53

yeah I know im lucky to get a seat, but I go in early and home early (to do nursery pick up) and travel from basically one end of the tube line to the other so its generally empty-ish when I get on.

The sniffing and chewing is a problem for me but nothing that an ipod turned up loud doesn't solve!

I really love listening to other people's music. It's nice to hear what the next generation are listening to and updating your own tastes.
Plus it saves on the batteries in my walkman Grin

BauerTime · 24/09/2014 12:07

you wouldn't get anything up to date from my ipod tread Grin

Ahh, you are the mum of a small child. That explains it!

When I was young, free and single, I had quite a demanding job and used to be knackered by the end of the day. A colleague who had three little ones used to say she came to work for a rest and I'd smile and go along with it but be thinking "silly cow" to myself.

All became clear when I had DS1!

Enjoy your sit down Grin

I genuinely love my commute - an hour on a double decker bus that is sooooooooooooo quiet I often have the whole top deck to myself!

I sit and do nothing but think. No music, no book - I may look out the window and do some old fashioned daydreaming.

I am becoming a much "mellower" person because of my downtime....

I do love my commute. 45 minutes in the car with my favourite sweary podcast that I put on as soon as DS hits the school door. Class.
