More people in it than the Next sale queue, ridiculous plots that end as abruptly and randomly as they started and a dog's bottom on the opening credits. What am I missing people?!!!!

OwlinaTree · 21/09/2014 23:10

That dog's bottom really irritates me too!!

Notsoyummymummy1 · 21/09/2014 23:11

Maybe it's the dog's arse that produces the scripts!

A lot of ppl on Twitter are discussing the irony that this series is sponsored by Amazon.

Oakmaiden · 21/09/2014 23:12

If you don't like it, don't watch it. I can't see why you would need to "boycott" it though. It is not like the TV company will care that you aren't watching it...

Icimoi · 21/09/2014 23:21

So far as I'm concerned it jumped the shark back in series 2, these days I feel I have much, much better things to do with my time.

LaurieFairyCake · 21/09/2014 23:24

Who's got anything better to do at 9 on a Sunday Confused

Unless of course you've got rampant sex

Only that would be better

Darkesteyes · 21/09/2014 23:35

YY Laurie Smile

UncleT · 21/09/2014 23:36

Crapton shitty? YANBU. It should be banned.

CrazyTypeOfIndifference · 21/09/2014 23:37

YABU.

Dh is in work until 12. I've recorded it so we can watch it together when he gets in yes really

Downton is amazing. Anyone who does not recognise this is bu.

Icimoi · 21/09/2014 23:39

Actually Our Girl on BBC1 was at least worth a try, so definitely there was at least one thing better to do.

SleepySuitcaseSheepie · 21/09/2014 23:57

YABU

wobblyweebles · 22/09/2014 01:09

Just watched it. Fab as ever.

wobblyweebles · 22/09/2014 01:10

And apparently George is guest starring at some point...

GimmeMySquash · 22/09/2014 01:32

YANBU if you don't want to watch it. I watch it as I enjoy the nonsense.

temporaryusername · 22/09/2014 01:55

YANBU to not watch it. I'm not. I quite liked it to begin with, although it is silly and some of the leading parts are badly acted - above stairs! Still it was gentle fun to watch and I partly wish I'd kept watching. I'm just a bit bored by it now and can't be bothered. Was bored by the time last series started so don't even know what's happened.

JudgeLionelNutmeg · 22/09/2014 08:44

Wobbly - unfortunately I've heard the George rumour is just that. He's not going to be in it Sad

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 22/09/2014 08:45

I'm proud to say I'm a downton Abbey Virgin. Never watched a single episode. I wouldn't be critical of it though as I don't know enough about it. I mean I could watch and think it's fantastic.

ThatBloodyWoman · 22/09/2014 08:52

I too am a DA virgin.
Its got no zombies in it, so its not going to appeal to me.

McGlashan · 22/09/2014 08:55

I agree with icimoi. First series enjoyable- the next couple total pish, then I gave up. We call it Dumbdown Abbey in this house.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 22/09/2014 08:57

Y.Y to zombies

Notsoyummymummy1 · 22/09/2014 20:04

I've seen plenty of zombies in it but not the traditional sort

OP posts:
ForalltheSaints · 22/09/2014 20:17

I do not watch it either. Perfectly reasonable to avoid it.

Chippednailvarnish · 22/09/2014 21:35

Series one was great, Lady Mary shagged one of the dinner party guests to death and Barrow being nasty to Bates who then got rid of his wife was addictive. The following series especially the Christmas special with Matthew singing his way into church and a storyline involving dying pigs/sheep/whatever were toe curlingly dull.

Oldraver · 22/09/2014 21:39

I was accosted by Downton groupies yesterday asking where the other filming venues were...they had travelled to see a pond and ford....strange

SpeedofSound0 · 22/09/2014 22:43

I watched this period soap once, and that was enough.

My mum then got me into a series a few years ago that she watched in her late teens, it was a '70s drama called, Upstairs Downstairs and it was bloody brilliant. Now we both have the DVD box sets of it.

The budget may be higher on Dumbstruck Abbey but the acting and plotting on the original UpDown is far, far superior. I cannot believe how old the series is though.
