We have been waiting for months for a significant arrears payment from the government. According to them, the first portion of it was supposed to be deposited into my bank account today.

Was I totally nuts to have woken at 3 am, checked my bank account and found the first 1/4 of the payment, paid all my bills and transfers that needed to be done and am now sitting with the weight off my shoulders at 4:30 but unable to go back to sleep?

Who needs sleep? The wolves not howling at the door feels SO much better Grin

YANBU.

Money worries get to your very core and permeate everything.

I am so glad it arrived on time. Its a good feeling when you know that things are back under control.

You do know you will be asleep in front of the TV by 8.30 tonight.

A few years back it took tax credits 5 months to process my claim. Like you I sat and waited for it in the early hours of the day it was due. I paid all the bills as soon as it arrived. The euphoria then sent me on a Christmas shopping spree.

True confession - I paid all the bills, then ordered the 50th birthday present for DH that I hadn't been able to afford (his birthday was this Sunday past) and put money in DS's account.

I am now figuring what all I need to cover in the next month before the next payment comes in... I am hoping that I will be able to justify the extra expense to register a family team for the 5K run to benefit DD's hospital school next weekend. I think I can Grin

Its good to be able to spend money on things that are happy and nice rather than just on bills and responsible spending (as long as the bills etc are covered).

Good Friday to you OP! I also had an arrears payment in today. It was a massive relief!
