To break this bloody clock and all the others?

Moved back in with mum and dad this weekend whilst I sort out the mess my life has become recently.

They have an incredibly annoying wall-mounted clock in the hall which, every hour, plays the instrumental to the Brownie Guide song:
O Lord, our God, Thy children call, Grant us Thy peace, And bless us all, Good-night
AND then chimes the relevant hour up to 12 obviously:
ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding
all of this takes about 30 seconds and is so loud that all conversations have to stop.
Also - there are about 4 clocks in each room, each ticking out of sync, tick, tick-tick, tock, tick, tock....gaaaaaah????

Now, despite the fact they have offered me a refuge in time of need, WIBU to, by stealth, somehow stop it working?

Clean it for them, giving it a good squirt of furniture polish up inside it to make it shiny....

Also you can make sure the battery stays in its compartment better by sticking it in with a bit of bluetack at each end.

Or even a tiny almost invisible bit of sellotape over the battery contacts to stop them corroding, as they are bound to do with a precious old clock like that.

BTW don't do anything I suggest at all, I am evil and YWBU.

You could try bursting into tears every time it goes off though, perhaps they would switch it off for you?

I mean it's just ridiculously naff in any case!

If you are mid-sentence when it goes off, just keep talking and say all the rude things to them that you are far to polite to say when they can hear you.
