...that you aren't voting for the SNP, or King Alex Salmond. You're voting for or against independence.

If we get independence, we can vote in whoever we like afterwards. In fact, the SNP could be viewed as defunct after the event.

I know I will be told I'm being U for a number of reasons, but I am surprised by how many people I have spoken to who think Yes = SNP Forever.

Yes to independence no to Salmond! Tardis

Parietal · 17/09/2014 23:00

no to independence, yes to saving the NHS

PrettyPictures92 · 17/09/2014 23:19

NHS is still going to be there with or without independence, more scaremongering...

pinkr · 17/09/2014 23:20

Ha Nichola sturgeon said the same thing and then in the next breath said we should never have a tory government again.the words lying snake spring to mind

WildThong · 17/09/2014 23:24

So it's not about Cameron or Westminster either?

Love Scotland, Vote No!

ACheekyWeeNameChange · 17/09/2014 23:29

Absolutely it's not about Cameron or Westminster either! It's far far bigger than any individual politician. I haven't met anyone who is voting Yes due to hating Cameron and/or Westminster. Although I'm sure voting yes or no doesn't preclude hating those things!

pinkr you're missing the point. It doesn't matter what NS says about the Tories. We get to decide. Not her. Or them for that matter.

like the tories are helping the NHS Shock

vote yes - everything that has devolved powers already is much better and rid ourselves of the royal bank of leeches one and for all. Grin

PrettyPictures92 · 17/09/2014 23:29

It's folk who voted a tory government in, hardly her fault there was one Confused

Anyway I'm not getting in a political argent this time of night, politics have been doing my head in lately and at this point I don't care if it's a yes or no vote, I just want it over and for my community to stop fighting with each other about it Sad

PrettyPictures92 · 17/09/2014 23:31

*argument. Perhaps I should go to bed lol

unlucky83 · 17/09/2014 23:31

Ahh but don't forget it will be Salmond (and his cronies) negotiating the best deal for Scotland in the event of a Yes...
If you have any doubts vote No ...we can (will?) have another referendum and then maybe we can make a decision based on facts not a pipe dream and a wish list...

Noggie · 17/09/2014 23:35

The snp have not convinced me and the thought of AS being the person totally in charge is jaw droppingly awful. A yes vote in my opinion is a yes to both snp and him Hmm.

OneNight · 17/09/2014 23:53

Of course it's about Alex Salmond as much as anything. He's the principal architect of the SNP's current plans such as they are and he's the one who would front any negotiations which take place. Anything which speaks to his ability, integrity or vision also speaks to the ideas he's arranged to be put forward.

MintChocAddict · 18/09/2014 00:14

Sigh. Sad
A few posts in and it's a bunfight. Will be glad when it's all over.
I'm still very much undecided and think it will be gut instinct in the polling booth for me.
Am determined not to make any eye contact with the campaigners outside the polling station. The Yes and No hardline campaigners annoy me in equal measure and I wish they would all learn how to behave and stop SHOUTING so much. I've cringed more times in the last few weeks than I have in years.
Scunnered!

OneNight · 18/09/2014 00:18

I'm not surprised MintChocAddict. Most of us will be glad to have this resolved one way or the other. It has been just too damaging for Scotland in my view and whatever the vote tomorrow there are no 'winners' on this one.

Agree OneNight

I've got a horrible feeling there'll be outbreaks of trouble over the next few days and beyond from the many idiots on both sides.

When you look at the awful happenings around the world and the awful suffering of refugees and displaced people living every hour in complete terror, ruined lives of so many vulnerable people etc then all the shouting, intimidation, egos, threat and counter threat in our own country seem so trivial, self obsessed and utterly selfish.

TillHammerZeit · 18/09/2014 00:30

I'm aware of that thankyou, and I'm still voting no.

WetAugust · 18/09/2014 00:37

YANBU. as a disenfranchised Scot living south of the border it saddens me to see how neglected Scotland has been by recent Governments to the extent that separation is an attractive alternative.

I have no idea how I would vote if I had the choice.

Good luck tomorrow. I hope you get what you wish for,

JudysPriest · 18/09/2014 01:22

For anyone voting yes or no. Don't spoil your ballot in your excitement. You'd be surprised how often this happens.

DaughterDilemma · 18/09/2014 01:32

Furthermore, in the White Paper the Scottish Government announced that it ‘will invite representatives from the other parties in the Scottish Parliament, together with representatives of Scottish civic society, to join the Government in negotiating the independence settlement.’ (para 2.7)

Alex Salmond won't be making decisions.

DioneTheDiabolist · 18/09/2014 01:37

Just want to drop all the Scots MNetters a line to say that if you go independent, I wish you all the best.Smile.

But I hope you don't. I love that we share a nationality. You will be missed if you go.

But

callipygian00 · 18/09/2014 01:53

Just came on to say this really...

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 18/09/2014 02:07

Love Scotland - vote NO.

Love walking off of a cliff blindfolded vote yes.

ACheekyWeeNameChange · 18/09/2014 16:48

Just wanted to come back and say that's great TillHammer, as long as you know. Smile I don't want to dissuade anyone from anything. I just wanted to point out something that has not been apparent to some people.

IMO the only unpatriotic thing anyone could do is not to vote. Hope everyone is managing to get out there to cast their votes!
