Friend only contacting me for Orange Wednesday code....

weeredcar · 17/09/2014 10:33

Because I am with Orange for my mobile phone, I get Orange Wednesday codes (2 for 1).

My friend knows this and ALWAYS asks for my code - at first I didn't mind, but its getting more regular now.

She barely contacts me outwith these requests and has never once asked me if I want to go to the cinema using said vouchers!

How do I politely tell her to bugger off?

Don't reply to the first text and see what happens

Thanks for all your replies - some really good ones there...

I think I'm going to say 'Hi XXXX - you seem to only contact me for my Orange code.....' and see what she says.

Cheeky mare.

Cleanlines suggestion is the best of the thread!

I went back to her with that and she came back a bit sheepish.

I've said that this is the last time she can use it also said she owes me a trip to the cinema (with popcorn and drinks) - NOT ON A WEDNESDAY!

She then said she would drop me off a treat this weekend and asked what I was doing on Friday.

I know she is only asking this because I've called her out.....

tbh many people don't realise that orange wed is not free so if she is otherwise a friend you want to keep, go with the flow

AnyoneForTARDIS · 17/09/2014 17:49

I used to get this too, id text back Thursday and say 'oh sorry, I don't get messages on wednsdays, I have my phone off as Im at the cinema using MY orange code'. (didn't actually go but pissed off at her attitude)

every week!

blooooody cheeky arse!!!!! just send her a made up number. then text and say: oops. wrong number. here's the right one. and then send her another made up number. repeat until midnight (providing you're on umlimited texts).

oooooh - just thought!! tell her the code is 55378008 and then tell her to read the code upside down. it was acceptable in the 70s

educatingcats · 17/09/2014 19:21

I'd just ignore her texts. What a cheeky bitch!

Ticklemonster897 · 17/09/2014 21:21

What about not getting back to her with the code. Not answering texts/calls until Thursday when you could say your phone was on silent/you lost your phone/you left phone in the car etc

EverythingCounts · 17/09/2014 21:29

I'd also be in the 'ignore the message' camp. I know you've spoken to her now, but if she does it again in the future that's what I would do.
