To be worried about terrible headaches?

I've had migraines for years but the headaches I've had recently are something else.

They don't seem linked to anything inparticular, can hit me at any time and leave be unable to complete normal tasks. Painkillers help to a point, but not completely.

I went to see the doctor who said that I have extremely low blood pressure, which she thinks is leaving me dehydrated and causing the headaches. For the last two weeks I've been making extra effort to drink lots and eat healthily, but no change whatsoever to headaches.

I've been unable to work, and am coming up to two weeks off work. I need to go back later this week but am really worried with how I will cope.

I'm posting here for traffic as I am at my wit's end and feeling absolutely rotten. Today I woke up at 9am, drank a glass of water on the sofa and then the headache hit. I fell asleep and only just woke up, the headache is unbearable.

Thank you!

You need to go back to your GP preferably today. You need some investigations. You can't go back to work like this! Phone them now and tell them what you have said in your post.

Sorry to hear about your headaches Sad I have low blood pressure and get headaches but usually drinking water helps and they don't stop me doing things.

I would go back to the GP and tell them what you have done to try and help the problem and see what they suggest next.

I suffered from headaches in my teens/early twentys
They were crippling and the doctors had tried everything including Beta Blockers.

Eventually, and as a last resort the hospital recommended acupuncture.
I will be honest, I didn't think it would work, but it did.
I don't know how or why but it worked, and would recommend it to anyone suffering from bad headaches

Good luck and hope your feeling better soon

Thanks everyone. I'll go back to the doctor, and will also look into acupuncture. I'll try anything at this point.

The doctors keep saying it must be stress related. I do have a stressful job, but I wouldn't say I'm stressed to the point of it giving me crippling headaches.
