Manchester Dog's Home has suffered an arson attack today. If any of you can spare some cash, or are local and can take a foster dog, please, please help. They are a wonderful charity, and need so much support at the moment.

I have donated, it's truly awful and deeply upsetting for the whole community. I can't believe it's happened.

gobbynorthernbird · 11/09/2014 22:32

Warbling, you're a star.

Smile Over 12k raised on MEN's page. The best thing to come out of this is everybody coming together to help.
HappyYoni · 11/09/2014 22:43

Done. That is just heartbreaking, I hope lots of people donate x

What a truly sick individual to have done such a despicable thing. I have to believe that he is mentally ill otherwise I cannot find it within me to understand, let alone forgive, what he has done to so many poor defenceless animals.

gobbynorthernbird · 11/09/2014 22:55

Thanks, Happy.

Iago, it is beyond comprehension.

I hope people also remember to donate - not just money, not everyone can afford that - but old blankets, a can of dog food, newspapers, and time (dogwalking, kennel cleaning, fundraising, special skills in law or accounts etc) to the rescues who will be taking on the surviving dogs and the stray dogs which would normally be sent to Manchester Dogs Home from their enormous council catchment area but which will as of tonight need somewhere else to go.

Those places will probably need the help, especially if they're taking on dogs affected by the tragedy and in need of vet care, even more than Manchester will. They'll be the ones taking on the vet bills and the extra work and will be desperate for any assistance they can get.

ouryve · 11/09/2014 22:56

Why the hell would someone do that? Shock

ProfessorVonIgelfeld · 11/09/2014 23:12

Thanks for posting the link as I hadn't heard about the fire. It's just heartbreaking. I've sent a donation now and my thoughts are with all the people and animals at the home.

I really hope that the person/s who committed this despicable act will have the book thrown at them.

IAmNotAPrincessIAmAKahleesi · 12/09/2014 00:01

I have donated, I couldn't afford much but I hope it helps a little

Daddypigsgusset · 12/09/2014 00:12

I've not stopped crying about this all night. Them poor doggies.
14year old boy been arrested. Evil little cunt

PhaedraIsMyName · 12/09/2014 01:22

Small donation made.

Petradreaming · 12/09/2014 06:39

Awful thing. Donated. What sort of vile cunt sets fire to an animal shelter. Leave him alone with me for 5 minutes. I'd sort the little bastard out.

Sazzle41 · 12/09/2014 14:47

Donated. Yes its unbelievable re the 14 yr old but: Setting fires/harming animals , are massivley common indicators of a developing psychopath (96% of whom , in US studies, have been found to have either experienced a seveer head injury at some point to frontal lobe governing behaviour/impulse control or, b) emotional or physical abuse). They start with fires/harming animals then go on to far, far worse. He needs help/I can only imagine his home environment if he is like this at 14.
