My thoughts exactly

TsukuruTazaki · 11/09/2014 20:36

This is why I'm moving out of London!

Andanotherthing123 · 11/09/2014 20:40

Yanbu. We are sitting here open mouthed...how does anyone afford to live in London anymore. They could get a mahoosive pad where I live for that money.

TheBogQueen · 11/09/2014 20:41

These terraced conversions! I lived in many and you can hear everything your neighbours are doing. Which is fine fir a cheap flat - but half a million? In Brixton?

I used to live down the road in Tooting. London house prices are a whole different world.

beccajoh · 11/09/2014 20:45

I used to live in a Victorian conversion and I could hear the upstairs neighbours peeing.

Redtartanshoes · 11/09/2014 20:46

That would get you a 5 bed detached up here (naice area outside Glasgow)

I went to college on Croydon 15 years ago. It was a ghetto... London Road, Mayday Hospital etc

MrsRogerSterling · 11/09/2014 20:48

What makes me laugh is when they walk into a pokey room overstuffed with things and say "wow, it's amazing"!?!?!?! They would pass out if they saw what you could buy around here (north west) for that money!

TheBogQueen · 11/09/2014 20:48

This is just insane

dingit · 11/09/2014 20:49

We have a 4 bed semi, 7 miles south of Croydon, worth about £475,000. They are barking mad!

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 11/09/2014 20:49

Yes they are weeing their knickers over that 1/2 mill two bed that looks like a student flat

TheBogQueen · 11/09/2014 20:50

Exactly - you could buy a five bedroom semi detached Victorian house with front and back garden 20 mins on train from London bridge for £450,000 where I grew up.

rainbowinmyroom · 11/09/2014 20:53

A fool and his money.

TheBogQueen · 11/09/2014 20:54

£462,300

For a 1 bed flat in Brixton?

IAmAPaleontologist · 11/09/2014 20:55

There is a 3 bed with a garden on sale just up the road from here for 65k. Nice area too with excellent schools and stuff.

TheBogQueen · 11/09/2014 20:56

£500,000??????

OP posts:
IAmAPaleontologist · 11/09/2014 20:57

more than they wanted to pay? No shit.

londonrach · 11/09/2014 20:57

Just been watching it. Croydon. Overpriced....

TheBogQueen · 11/09/2014 20:58

I have to go for a lie down now

OP posts:
SauvignonBlanche · 11/09/2014 20:58

I just asked DH if he missed living in London - we're watching it too. The answer was an emphatic 'No'!

monkeyfacegrace · 11/09/2014 21:00

I. Just. Don't. GET. It.

Dh is a high earner. Just shy of 6 figures.

Yet we live in a modest 250k house in the Cotswolds.

How much fucking money are these people earning, and doing what, to spend half a mill on a shit 2 bed flat?!

Genuinely ShockConfused

Didyouevah · 11/09/2014 21:05

I know...!! Insane...

Also they just seem to throw in another 20k and say they'll get a loger.

How? How does that work with a mortgage application/agreement.

Eugh.

OddFodd · 11/09/2014 21:09

What's wrong with Brixton? Confused

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 11/09/2014 21:10

I haven't lived in the UK for a long time but it used to be quite dangerous.

I imagine it's gentrified quite a bit if they are able to ask those kind of prices Shock

TheBogQueen · 11/09/2014 21:11

There's nothing wrong with Brixton - but it's an area of heavy traffic, lots of buses and the flats they were showing were poor quality and tiny. And the prices were horrendous.
