I've been nominated but have no intention of doing it. I think it is just a fad and a reason to show off!

Just don't do it then. It's a nice bit of supporter based campaigning and it's raised millions of dollars and pounds for charity. If you don't want to take part, don't.

I've been nominated but have politely refused. I had a serious brain injury at the beginning of the year and walking in the wind and rain without a hat makes my head hurt, so there's no chance I'm tipping a bucket of freezing water over myself!

hollie84 · 07/09/2014 18:46

Don't do it then.

ilovepowerhoop · 07/09/2014 19:45

I didnt do it either but posted to say I wasnt doing it but was making my donation anyway.

juneybean · 07/09/2014 19:46

Is it not over yet?!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 07/09/2014 19:46

It's over, the moment has passed

mumofboyo · 07/09/2014 22:54

Yanbu. If you don't want to do it, don't do it. You don't have to explain or justify yourself.
I was nominated by my sil and tagged in her post. I donated but untagged myself and didn't do it. That was it: no statement of refusal and no explanation or apology. Noone chased it up or pressured me into it. In fact, I don't even think anyone noticed. It's more or less all blown over now, anyway.

Tigerinthegrass · 07/09/2014 22:56

I thought it had died a death by now. Tons haven't done it eve though nominated. Your choice. We are not sheep

Scholes34 · 07/09/2014 22:58

Until I read this, I'd forgotten that I'd been nominated today. Won't be doing it, but will donate to a charity of my choice in my own time and keep that fact to myself.

KiwiJude · 08/09/2014 05:49

No reason at all for you to do it. Or is there? Seems a bit silly to me. The closest I will ever get to doing the ice bucket challenge is having one with a bottle of wine in it next to me :) Wine hic

Fabulassie · 08/09/2014 06:06

A friend of mine did it and nominated all her friends to sponsor her in a walk she's doing for ALS that supports a local charity. (She also did a nice video with some photos of people she's known personally who have ALS or have died from it.) She's done the walk for years. I felt good about donating to sponsor her and that got me off the hook.

FamiliesShareGerms · 08/09/2014 06:08

YANBU - I'm not doing it (and I donate plenty to charity as it is , without needing to make a film for Facebook announcing the fact!)

Flangeshrub · 08/09/2014 06:23

I find the 'I refuse to do it!' people much more attention seeking than those that just had a laugh a few weeks back when it was popular.

I've defriended a couple of people on Facebook who went out of their way to moan and complain about the ice bucket challenge and insult everyone else for being sheep etc.

Do it or don't do it. You know no one actually cares if you do it? It's a bit of a laugh for those who want to partake, if you don't - fine.

As somebody involved in charity work it's getting harder and harder to get donations and gimmicks like this are replacing more tradition ways of giving. It works.

Stop the whinging though!

LadyLuck10 · 08/09/2014 06:28

Ffs just don't do it then!
It's not a summons Hmm
