To let 2 year old DD watch tom and jerry?

DD has tom and jerry on DVD and loves it, however DP doesn't like her watching it because of the fighting aspect.
I think it's fine as it's not people, and it's the typical 'cat chasing mouse' stereotype rather than real fighting.

AIBU, is DP trying to wrap her in cotton wool or is it actually aimed at older children?

My kids love tom and jerry it's the whole slapstick and music thing we have pretty much all of the old dvd's.

I think with Tom and Jerry it's silly fighting rather than brutal fighting IYSWIM does your dd know the difference between play and real fighting? If so than I think it's fine.

Simply not letting them watch a cartoon isn't going to teach them anything. Letting them watch it and explaining that violence on other people is wrong, is better.

Honestly though, it's a cartoon. No kid shot up a school because of Tom and Jerry.

My 5 yr old fell in love with Tom and Jerry when he was 3. He howls laughing at them.

I loved them too when I was little. I have never been known to chase people around with a frying pan or blow off their tails with dynamite or hammer their heads with a hammer so hard that they disappear into the ground.

Me either. Wish I could, sometimes. Would make life so much more satisfying. :)

Allow it of course. Even when Jerry smokes a cigar!

I grew up with Tom & Jerry, Scooby Doo, Pink Panther, Ivor The Engine, Roobarb & Custard, Paddington. Didn't mean that I thought it was real.

Even though I longed to be in Paddington's world.
