Loom bands are apparently filled with cancer causing chemicals. Scare mongering or true, who knows. Dont know how to link off my phone but it is all over the papers.

DD has loads but she has opened all the packets and mixed them all up. Should i just bin the lot or am i just reading way too much into it. FYI i am overly anxious about health related matters.

Grammar above is legend eh ! Excuse please- tis late.

Hissy · 30/08/2014 08:25

what happens when in 5 minutes time the little poppets start sucking up the next Big Thing?

all this junk ends up in the bin, billions of multi coloured elastic bands, which will take a gazillion years to decompose, or if incinerated will create toxic smoke.

and for what, some intricately designed bracelet? really?

if that's not mindless I dread to think what is.

not EVERYTHING marketed to kids needs to be bought for/by them.

Bobbydazzler

I think I love you. Brilliant advice!

FamiliesShareGerms · 30/08/2014 09:54

YANBU - not because of the alleged cancer causing, but because I'm with Hissy on this in hating those damn bits of rubber littering the floor

Frontier · 30/08/2014 10:39

Hissy's point is correct but she only has the right to lecture the rest of us in such terms if she doesn't run a car, eat meat, have pets (or children), take holidays, buy anything that involves packaging, never buys an item of clothing that will only be worn once or twice, never used disposable nappies or wipes, or a plastic bottle/bag...

Loom bands are very bad environmentally but there are loads of things we all do everyday that are worse. We all try to find a balance. My DCs have been kept entertained by the (horrible) things all summer but they haven't been on a plane and they don't have a dog.

Waltonswatcher · 30/08/2014 12:47

Hissy you are missing my point , the band is dire - mine are not allowed them .
All I was saying is the activity is not mindless . By yelling at people as you are and ridiculing your message fails to be heard . What do you think your net device is powered by ?

fun1nthesun · 30/08/2014 14:33

Why should we avoid processed meat, which processed meat in particular?

To the person on page one who studies this?

Sorry for not remembering the name...Flowers

Pipbin · 30/08/2014 15:30

heard from a friend who read it on Facebook.

A reliable source then.

PistolWhipped · 30/08/2014 21:08

Best thing that's happened to children in ages; a simple something that fires their imagination and gets their heads out of online porn the internet. Who gives a shit about landfills and biodegrable whotsits?

gamerchick · 30/08/2014 21:11

When you read about something in the papers about causing cancer, watch the daily mail song on YouTube and you'll feel much better.

waithorse · 30/08/2014 21:22

It's just the charms that have been withdrawn.

Callaird · 30/08/2014 23:51

According to the Daily Mail everything causes cancer. Eggs, toast, immigrants, people on benefits, ice cream.
