I really could not care less what people buy in supermarkets.

As a student I worked in Sainsbury's and my mother said - ooh it must be so interesting to see what people are buying. Erm ..... no

Why are people (or maybe it's just mumsnet) so interested in other peoples shopping lists?

Yanbu I don't get it either. I once read a sex tip in Cosmo (obv) that suggested finding a shopping list left in a basket (they're not that common are they?!) and choosing items of it to use during sex that night

what if the list only had like, milk and nappies and a loaf of bread or something?!

Bloody hell, sex items from a shopping list? If I followed that tip going from the last list I found then I'd be waiting for DH covered in dry dog biscuits when he got home from work

Shopping lists don't interest me really, much prefer having a good nose in trolleys as I walk past.

I think it's just a glimpse into someone's life that allows you to learn something about the kind of person they are, even if it is just their food preferences and which kind of washing up brush they use. Some people's are probably more interesting than others, and occasionally I look at what I have bought and wonder what it says about me, so I can kind of see the appeal (although I am sure it would wear off if I worked in a supermarket!).
