I weigh 20 stone 10lbs and am 5 foot 3; I want to lose about a stone to bring me into a healthy bmi.

At the moment I am failing miserably Grin and I think this is because I'm on holiday!

So I am hoping a more relaxed approach may work. I wondered about having a normal breakfast / lunch and a low carb evening meal? Plus exercise of course.

Any hints/ tips received gratefully!

In the nicest possible way, do you mean 20 stone 10lbs? Or 10 stone 10lbs?

Only because if it's 20 stone, I think you'll need to lose more than a stone to be at a healthy bmi.

My hints and tips, either way, would be eat when hungry, stop when full and make sure you enjoy every mouthful. When you stop enjoying, that's when you stop eating.

Good luck!

10 stone! Typo! Grin

Believe me I could eat a banquet for twelve kings and enjoy every mouthful so that won't work unfortunately - I do have a big appetite and I like food.

Halve portion sizes.

Don't snack on carbs.

Arf at the typo. Bet you feel slimmer already!

Wow, you've just lost 10 stone Wink

Protein helps fill you up. Add more veg to your meals and less carbs, you'll feel less hungry.

I'm all for the exercise tbh, I eat piles of shit food everyday, sweets, bakery, lots of meat etc but I work in a very physical manual job that keeps my weight down and I spend my evenings seeing to the dogs and horses.

I mean its just gone 12 and today I had 2 slice of toast and butter, a sausage roll, a French cake and bean and potato pie from the bakers, half a pot noodle, a bowl of the kids chocolate cereal, a packet of crisps and a bottle of coke. But I have also ridden 5 horses for 40 mins each and mucked out 10 stables, bedded the entire cowshed (singlehandedly no thanks to you DH) and I have 3 more horses to ride, 4 more stables to muck out and 9 dogs to run down the woods. BRING THE CALORIES for that!!!

Lally definitely - I do try to get to the gym most days. I've found in the past that exercise means I can eat what I want and not gain weight but now I actually need to lose some if you see what I mean.

sensible eating, look at the NHS choices website for healthy eating advice. keep to the recommended guidelines, drink water, cut down on treats and alcohol, eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with lots of fruit, salad, and veg keep portions realistic and keep up with the exercise. I have just lost 3 and half stone following the slimming world plan, I eat loads, just healthier stuff works for me, worth a look too?
