My usual pay day is 28th of the month. I spent a fortnight this month 'holding the fort' while my boss was on holiday and due to the nature of my work I consequently spent a lot of time making international calls/using data on my personal mobile (no work phone) so the bill is more than usual and went out this week. And now I've got no money in the bank, have gone over my overdraft and have charges. Full disclosure: I probably over spent too, knowing I'll be getting a bonus on top of wages this month for the holding of the fort. His holiday is annual, so no surprises there.
I asked my boss to pay me yesterday and he said "I'll see what I can do". I replied with the above re: the mobile bill and no response. I don't know how thick I can lay it on over the mobile bill as, while it's a lot more than it usually is, that doesn't actually equal a huge amount of money. Oh, I'll just tell you - it's £101 instead of ~£45. So, £56 wasn't exactly going to see me through the week either
It's just me and him - he is a sole trader (I think, or self employed?) and his company employs us both. So it's not a monolithic payroll in a massive corporation. It's him clicking about on his biz bank account.
AIBU thinking there's no real reason he can't pay me today?
