ds ,13,(young for years, not at all streetwise) just phoned me from Egypt, feeling sick all day, hardly eaten, so his dad and step mum have left him in hotel room (been there 2 days) by himself until midnight.DS doesn't know what to do if fire alarm goes off even.ie, where nearest fire exit is.has history of frequent fainting, esp if not eating much.
am bloody livid.

how did ds seem? do you get the impression he was ok with being left alone?

pretty crappy thing for his dad to do imo especially only 2 days into holiday.

having said that...he is 13 and I imagine quite safe in the hotel.

I can understand your rage though...

everythingsgoingsouth · 21/08/2014 20:56

if he wasn't feeling sick and knew safety procedures, I still would be a little peed off, but not angry/worrying.
DS not feeling great, that's why he rang me, wouldn't say so to his dad as didn't want him to be cross with him.

the only thing I can suggest is to ask ds to text/ring you periodically.

im inclined to say you should message his dad with your worries but not entirely sure that would work in ds favour iyswim...

shitty situation really.

isnt it funny how parents can bring up the same child yet have completely different ideas on whats acceptable and whats not.

Are they in a resort? Is his dad in the hotel watching a show?

everythingsgoingsouth · 21/08/2014 21:24

have spoken to his dad and said I don't think it's appropriate that DS is alone feeling sick and not even knowing what to do in case of emergency etc.he is on his way back to see DS now.

massive hotel complex, presume in bar or watching entertainment.

just needed a vent really, thanks.
