Just been sent an update email from social media site with the title "everyone's a little mental". I find this offensive - would you or do I need another coffee?

I think I see what they're aiming for, but it is a bit ill-judged.

I think you need a bit more than just another coffee.

I can see where you're coming from, but if think you have to be working pretty hard to be genuinely offended tbh.

Thanks all, will make myself a biiiiiig latte. Think I am a bit over sensitive to this topic which is why I ask the mumsnet jury :)

Most people are a little bit mental in some way.

If we're going for the professionally offended approach, I think it would be worse to make out that people with MH problems were in some way different or alien to "normal" society.

I don't find it offensive, but I do find it really undermining and unhelpful

It was this sort of thing that stopped me getting help when I really needed it.

For years when I told people about the symptoms of my, as then undiagnosed, mental health issue I would be dismissed and told 'Oh we are all a bit like that sometimes' or 'We are all a little bit OCD'.

So I didn't seek help even though deep in my heart I knew that I was ill. Until the point it got so bad I had to go for help and almost had a total break down.

Nobody would title an email with 'We're all a little bit anorexic' or something to that effect.
