londonrach · 13/08/2014 17:33

Please mnhq we need ekl. I love the fact that ops post in now in classics but an icon would be lovely. I'm trying to use her wisdom at the moment and it's working....

I have no idea whatsoever what you are one about Grin but I like Elk if that helps

EdithWeston · 13/08/2014 17:37

There's a thread about the Karting League?

Drat, missed that (off to search). Was there really enough interest to have a little Kart (like the bike)?

Optimist1 · 13/08/2014 17:37

Yes, it was an unusual thread and just reading about the elderly Korean lady made me feel all calm and serene.

Rummikub · 13/08/2014 17:38

I would like lessons in how to reach that zen state shown by that tiny elderly Korean lady.

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 13/08/2014 17:38

The EKL thread was fab!

londonrach · 13/08/2014 17:40

Ekl is the best post ever by boys I think. Look in classics. Be warned though you need time and tissues...

OP posts:
FruVikingessOla · 13/08/2014 17:40

MNHQ won't see this thread. You could re-post in Site Stuff to ask for a EKL emoticon [pinkvisor] Grin

londonrach · 13/08/2014 17:42

Can someone do that please fru. I think I need her and I'm sure others do

OP posts:
shakethetree · 13/08/2014 17:44

What's an ekl?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 13/08/2014 17:46

Oooh yes! Then we could have an Elderly Jamaican Woman icon or a Short Welsh Woman icon. I know - a Short Elderly Second Generation Polish Immigrant Woman icon!

AIBU to ask that people maybe think before they type?

FruVikingessOla · 13/08/2014 18:08

shake, read this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/2154580-There-is-a-tiny-elderly-Korean-lady-in-my-garden-and-I-want-to-go-out? (it might take you a while). It is the most charming and calming thread - from this weekend.

Essentially, the OP and her DH were selling their garden summerhouse, which was bought by a Korean gentleman. He bought his mother along to the OP's house whilst they were dismantling the summerhouse, and she sat in their garden for the whole day and charmed the whole family .... well, read the thread, it's so lovely!

Zero, have you read the original thread? It has nothing to do with nationality/age/background/ethnicity/whatever. And the icon requested has nothing to do with 'a person', it was to do with the pink visor which the lady in question was wearing. The OP thought her 'guest's' pink visor was lovely.

WeirdCatLady · 13/08/2014 18:10

Pink visor plea from me too x

OwlCapone · 13/08/2014 18:11

Dear god no. Not another ridiculous emoticon like the pointless bear.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 13/08/2014 18:11

Yes of course I've read the original thread! Why would I comment without any knowledge of what I'm talking about?

charmund · 13/08/2014 18:12

It was the most charming and gentle thread helped by being beautifully written by the OP- so yes, yes, yes to a pink visor

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 13/08/2014 18:12

Zero you've jumped in with both feet there Hmm, do you have a clue about the thread in question?, it was gentle and kind and lovely to read, no negativity at all.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 13/08/2014 18:13

Zero bad day?

WorraLiberty · 13/08/2014 18:16

There must be something wrong with me Grin

I liked the thread...I thought it was amusing but I just don't get the gushing I've seen about it on various threads since.

shakethetree · 13/08/2014 18:17

Fru - thank you :-) I'll have a read.

Viviennemary · 13/08/2014 18:20

I saw the thread. Can't see what the fuss is about. I'm having a bad day.

Seriouslyffs · 13/08/2014 18:31

I think we could all do with channelling ekl.
The thread was beautiful. It was a snapshot of an unexpected pleasure, taking life as it comes and enjoying a gift.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 13/08/2014 18:36

I particularly liked the bit where she brought out the lunch, it was fab!

shakethetree · 13/08/2014 18:38

Had a quick skim read, it's a nice enough thread but......( get a grip people )

londonrach · 13/08/2014 18:41

Shake maybe you had to be there in real time. It was a special day and the icon (pink visor or elk icon) means a lot... Mnhq I think a lot of readings and posters would like one

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/08/2014 18:43

It could be a secret one like the Bear is. [pinkvisor]
