Ds has just asked me what the 1990's were like in the manner of an interested history scholar.

They weren't THAT long ago.

I've just explained what the rave scene was like.

He is perplexed.

I remember telling a child at work (she was about 9) that I remembered Kylie the first time round. The girl rolled her eyes at me and said "Kylie only just brought an album out. She is new!"
I said "No she was new in the 80's with "I should be so Lucky!" and she used to be in Neighbours."
The girl said "She has never been in Neighbours, I watch it all the time!"
I replied "I have watched it since before you were born, and Kylie was a character called Charlene."
This went on for some time until her mum came back and said "Oh the great Kylie debate. She didn't believe me either!"
It took me singing some of her back catalogue before she finally admitted defeat.
I felt so old that day!

Sorting out the shelves the other day, I went through a pile of vhs tapes. We still have a vcr (or two) so I watched a bit of each one to decide which ones could be binned.

For some reason, at some point, Dh had recorded the bbc 2 test card.

That clown is FREAKY!

Love this thread Grin.

Last weekend I got called a MILF by a guy born in 1996. He hadn't ever voted in a general election before. I don't feel that old at 30 but if there was ever a moment, it was that.

PigletJohn · 16/08/2014 13:28

old would be a GILF.

InTheDock · 16/08/2014 13:30

We did actually discuss that PigletJohn because my DS is currently the age I was when I have birth to him Grin.

isnt it scary???....funny but scary lol - off to put a record on the radiogram:)x

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 16/08/2014 14:57

We had a radiogram. The turntable had four speeds. 16, 33, 45, and 78.

PunkHedgehog · 17/08/2014 12:12

Ours had those plus a really slooooow speed (either 7 or 9, I can't remember now) that I've been told was for language records.

And you could stack up several records on the spindle to drop down in succession, or leave one on repeat by not pushing in the stabilising arm thingie.
