Dd 8 months haa been super happy chilled baby. Then about two weeks ago suddenly changed. Won't play. Wriggling if held. Only happy if beingpuspushed in buggy. He's not ill. Just really grumpy. Tried bonjela but don't think teeth. Just grumpy and really don't know what to do

My dd (11 now!) did this for a few months. Looking back I 'm sure it was a series of colds and teething. She eventually came out of it and was jolly again. It is weird though and hard for you both because you are worried about what's wrong and they can't talk!!

tumbletumble · 06/08/2014 17:12

My guess is he's about to start crawling. All mine went through a grumpy / frustrated period when they wanted to be able to move and couldn't quite manage it.

Pimmsoclocknow · 06/08/2014 17:15

I think that you're right about crawling. Lies on floor smashing with hands and feet desperately trying to move and can't so starts crying

Yes exactly! Don't worry OP, he'll be fine in a couple of weeks when he figures it out.

Deelish75 · 06/08/2014 17:29

Is he sleeping and feeding okay? He's probably raring to crawl but getting frustrated because he's not quite ready.

Pimmsoclocknow · 06/08/2014 17:34

Food basically okay. Wants favourite food . Sleeping okay. It's just so draining!

Just think in a few weeks he'll be off into everything Wink

kinkyfuckery · 06/08/2014 17:41

Sounds like he's just going through a mental growth spurt.

It does pass and swaps for another set of problems

HavanaSlife · 06/08/2014 17:42

Growth spurt and getting ready to crawl I'd say

Molotov · 06/08/2014 17:43

I find myself thinking this about my 2yo: such an easy baby. Then that changed when she was about 18mo.

I'm still waiting for the return Grin

sparkle101 · 06/08/2014 17:53

Ds went through this stage whilst he was trying to crawl. Was horrible! He's back to normal now though

FrankSaysNo · 06/08/2014 18:15

Warm weather? that always unsettles every one and makes them grumpy

Fruityflapjack · 06/08/2014 18:26

Agree with the above posters, my Dd now 16 months got like this before a new developmental leap.

There is a great book called 'The wonder weeks' (I bought the app as it was much cheaper) which explains physical and emotional developmental phases, associated behaviours and how to manage them. I found it very helpful x

HRMumness · 06/08/2014 18:34

Developmental leap, probably crawling like others have said. Could be teeth also, even if they don't show signs of it, they can still be causing them pain. My DD went through something similar at that age FWIW.

HappySeaTurtles · 06/08/2014 19:01

Mine was cranky from 8-12 weeks old. We don't know what caused it. I tried Tylenol because I thought she was in pain. I thought it was teething, but it wasn't. Then it just went away. Now she's back to normal. Who knows what that was all about.

Growth spurts can cause pain. DD was growing a lot during that time.
