I have what I think is a stye on my lower eyelid. It is painful and gross on close inspection. If I am honest, you can't really notice it if ou were not looking for it but it feels enormous.

I am a bit of a fretter Blush and am paranoid that I have eye cold sores.

Has anyone any experience of either? Can anyone suggest treatment for styes? I have tried the "hot teabag on the eye" a few times today.....it is still there.

Bleurgh.

I had a stye a few months ago. Couldn't see it at first but my eye hurt like hell. Next day my eyeball turned red and eyelid was swollen. Boots have infected eyes eye drops which cured mine up in a few days.

It sounds like a stye and they do feel huge and horrible. Pop into your local pharmacy in the morning, and ask the pharmacist to have a look...if they can offer you a treatment, they will, if not they will send you to GP. I think they just go away in their own time, but best get it checked.

I often get styes. make sure all make up is off then wipe clean with cold water

get some Golden Eye ointment tomorrow from chemist works very quickly

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 05/08/2014 23:39

You could try rubbing it 7 times with a gold ring.....(scientific)

i have just remembered that my grandma used to swear by treating them with the membrane of an egg?!?

Ouch I get that often, get goldeneye and make sure you alway take your makeup off, I usually get one after a big night out and slept in my makeup

I've used the gold ring trick before and it works. No idea how or why!

SomethingVicardThisWayComes · 06/08/2014 00:08

i used to work in optics - a good trick is "warm spooning" - stand a teaspoon in hot water and place it over the affected spot....as often as you can bear to do it.

they are a pain in the eye! dont last long though...drops as a stand by would be handy.

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 06/08/2014 08:54

I think the warm spoon thing and the gold ring thing are really all about massaging the stye.

Gold ring thing does work though.
