to block/unfriend people on facebook

I'm having a bit of a life-audit at the moment and really want to rid myself of things that can cause me to become grumpy, down, etc.

I'm getting rid of clutter around me and am now concerned with stuff that preys on my mind, such as old "friends" being bitchy on fb, or people who I'm not friends with and their comments on statuses of mutual friends etc.

I'm not ready to give up fb completely, its a good way of keeping up with friends who live away, but I've recently done a huge cull of fb "friends" I've not interacted with. I've also blocked some former friends because I'm uncomfortable with some of the things they post on mutual friends' pages.

Am I being unreasonable to do this? Or am I slowly isolating myself until I have no friends left??

YANBU.

I tend to hide people and put them on my restricted list so they can't see my posts, that way I have the feeling of not been bogged down with 'non' friends whilst not looking anti social or offending anyone. Even my mum is on my restricted list!

I had a restricted list for a while, but felt the need for something more final! I'm hoping I've made the right decision...

how do you hide people please? i was trying to work out how to do it the other day.

YANBU, it can feel quite refreshing to have a cull on there so that your FB feed improves. You wouldn't listen to people being offensive or rude IRL so why subject yourself to it in written form everytime you log in?
I took a load off a few months ago to leave myself with actual friends and the relatives I like. FB is fun again Smile

Yanbu

If you go on there main page and click unfollow next to the message button, their posts won't show in your news feed anymore.

YANBU. I've defriended people for posting shit from Britain First/EDL/BNP etc, for repeatedly making chauvinistic comments, because I don't really know them and for adding weird sarcastic responses to my status updates. I've hidden a couple of people who I want to remain friends with but who update Facebook constantly so I actually see some other people's updates apart from theirs.

itiswhatitiswhatitis · 05/08/2014 20:57

Their not there

itiswhatitiswhatitis · 05/08/2014 20:58

If you want to restrict what others see you post you need to go into your privacy settings and click custom

MrsItsNoworNotatAll · 05/08/2014 20:59

If you don't want someone seeing your stuff click on where it says friends then scroll down and press restrict.

You're not unreasonable. I had a cull a few months ago, deleted about 50 people. Found it very refreshing. The deleted were mostly randoms I had picked up over the years but also some old school friends who were boring me or posting things I found offensive. With people I couldn't reallyjustify deleting (like my cousins despite how racist they are) I changed them to 'acquaintances so they don't receive my posts in their feeds and then don't comment on my posts.
