To be broody again when I have a 6 week old

I gave birth to my first DD 6 weeks ago and am already trying to work out when we will be able to afford another and how many! Shs isnt some dream child, but I think pretty normal in terms of sleep, am ebf on demand which is exhausting and can last 10 hrs at a time on a bad day, but at 35 maybe I am aware that I dont have loads of time. Is it normal to feel this way, some sort of wierd hormonal thing perhaps?

IIRC I was the same with both of mine. It's hormonal, I think.

Ronmione · 03/08/2014 18:54

I was the same, as soon as the midwives handed him over really

Elllimam · 03/08/2014 19:00

My DS is 3 weeks and I feel broody too :) even with the fact he doesn't sleep at night and cluster feeds for hours on end.

ElizabethArdenGreenTea · 03/08/2014 19:01

it's the hormones messing with your brain.

Bigbouncingbaby · 03/08/2014 19:03

Total. Hormones ....all friends had the same. It's goes around 6 months !

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 03/08/2014 19:05

Hormones. Wait 2-3 months and youll probably feel a lot less broody.

ThisFenceIsComfy · 03/08/2014 19:06

I was the same. DS is now 2 and I'm less broody :)

TheWiseOldElf · 03/08/2014 19:10

I was the same. Got pregnant again when DD1 was 6months. I now have DD1 22 months and DD2 6 months and I'm totally exhausted but still irrationally broody again!

I missed my bump, strange I know but I missed all the little kicks ect.

BumpNGrind · 03/08/2014 19:32

My auntie felt like this. Her first ds is born in January, the second in December. They grew up very close and even as grown ups are still best friends.

Xmasbaby11 · 03/08/2014 19:34

I was the same! Definitely hormones. Didn't ttc until dd was 2 yo but definitely felt irrationally broody at 6 weeks!

stargirl1701 · 03/08/2014 19:35

I was broody about 5 minutes after having DD ! Grin

deakymom · 03/08/2014 19:36

hormones my friend is like this her child doesn't sleep even she admits she wishes she was still pregnant as it was easier! another friend has actually got pregnant straight away she is due another baby by christmas!

Beatrixemerald · 03/08/2014 19:45

Ok good to know, I have never been broody in my life, even when ttc dd so am a it suprised by feeling this way, particularly when totally knackered ( but she is just sooooooo perfect Grin )

And me. It disappears soon Grin

Monkeychopsmum · 03/08/2014 19:54

My ds is 8mo and I felt broody again from birth and to be honest I am still broody now. I put it down to breastfeeding hormones as I am still BF but I'm not sure.

Doesn't help that a lot of my friends are pregnant right now, two of which are expecting twins! Oh how I would love twins!

elliejjtiny · 03/08/2014 20:38

Me too. I think it's partly because they grow and change so fast at this age.

Philoslothy · 03/08/2014 20:39

I think it is hormones although for me it never goes away. Maybe why baby five is a few months old and I am planning baby six.
