I'm 40+4 by scan (41+1 by LMP and known date of conception).

I had a (horrific) sweep on Friday morning which instantly led to lots of blood and mucous (sorry if you're eating your bacon butty) and promising twinges. Midwife said I was 1cm dilated and she was positive I would see action within 48 hours.

Since Friday evening, nothing, nada, zip. Back to feeling perfectly normal Sad.

I've been walking, climbing steps, scrubbing floors, eating pineapple till my tongue almost bled, eating curry and making poor DP shag me. All totally in vain. I'm sick of waiting. I'm sick of having the same phone conversation with my mother every 16.4 minutes. I'm sick of feeling like a walrus with chip retention.

I feel hideously down in the dumps and have accepted that this baby will come when and only when he is ready.

AIBU to stay in bed until that time arrives? DD is with me. We have Netflix and flapjacks.

Well considering I am only 12 weeks and seriously considering on going back to bed, I say go for it. You wont get another chance for a looooooong time. Good luck, are you having a homebirth

Mumof3xox · 03/08/2014 11:27

Go for it!

violetlights · 03/08/2014 11:27

Here's hoping your flapjacks are chocolate-covered and plentiful. Stay in bed as long as supplies last. Sorry your sweep was so bad... Flowers

BunnyLebowski · 03/08/2014 11:29

That's another factor in my depression Olbas. I had a wonderful HB with DD but this time have developed some health issues that necessitate a hospital birth. I'm not happy about it and am feeling very anxious Sad.

Congratulations on your pregnancy - I remember the overwhelming exhaustion at that stage. Bed for you too!

congratulations .it won,t be long i would stay put and eat .because lets be honset in a few days you wont be laying about much .if hubby is in i would milk it for all its worth .

aurynne · 03/08/2014 11:47

Do stay in bed! Lie on your side though, as lying flat in late pregnancy can make you feel dizzy and make unhappy. Rest and be lazy for a while, have some chocolate and cake, or pizza, and store some energy for labour. You deserve it :)

ICanSeeTheSun · 03/08/2014 11:51

I wouldn't argue with an over due, pissed of pregnant women.

Go ahead enjoy the a nice calm day.

bumpiesonamission · 03/08/2014 11:58

Do it, line up the DVDs and snacks and stay put (obviously going to the loo frequently!)

I predict that if you plan to do this bubba will come!!!

Hobby2014 · 03/08/2014 12:04

I'm totally with you.
40+3 (40+6 my dates) and that sounds amazing Smile.
Why won't our babies come?!

WaitMonkey · 03/08/2014 12:05

Staying in bed all day is never U, pregnant or not. Enjoy the rest while you can. Hope lo arrives soon. Thanks

ikeaismylocal · 03/08/2014 12:10

Yanbu, it may well be your body gearing up to go into labour tonight and making you rest.

At what gestation was your dd born?

I hope your un-pregnant soon Cake

GreenPetal94 · 03/08/2014 12:15

As soon as you get really settled in bed you may get woken by a contraction... well maybe

BunnyLebowski · 03/08/2014 12:19

Thanks everyone - your unanimous support has provoked a typical crazy pregnant lady reaction and I'm now sat here in tears. Gah!

DD was born at 41+3 a few days after a sweep so this pregnancy seems to be following suit. I'm just fed fed FED up!

I think it's the lack of anything resembling pre-labour that is doing my head in. No cramps, no back pain, no emissions, no BH. I feel like it's never going to start.

I need Cake and Brew

I'm 37+6 and have also just retreated to bed. I have no energy to do anything. My mantra is usually "pregnant not poorly" and I try to do all the things I normally do, but this weekend i just Cannot Be Bothered. DH has taken DS out for a few hours and I am staying put, possibly for the next three weeks.

In short, YANBU, enjoy the rest Smile

reallywittyname · 03/08/2014 12:44

YANBU, stay in bed, but put something waterproof under the sheet.

Stay in bed for today. Tomorrow you'll feel much better and able to get through another week or so (potentially) of pregnancy.

I hated the end of pregnancy! Went 2 weeks overdue with each so had plenty of practice...
