To just want to book a holiday

I know that this is a real first world problem but just feeling stuck.

I want to book a weeks holiday for two adults, preschooler and baby. We want beach. Good food. Nice accommodation with space for us. So thinking med somewhere.

However just feeling overwhelmed by choice, options and variable reviews of various places.

I like the idea of all inclusive but have always done self catering before. I don't want kids clubs and in resorts it seems that you pay a premium for them.

Any suggestions?

Agua Blava was where we always used to go when kids were same age as yours. Fly into Gerona and take a hire car.

I had similar overwhelmed feelings! Ended up booking the viva hotel in Majorca which looks ideal for my 2 who are similar to yours. It's AI but has great reviews

If we ever get around to booking we'll be going to Cambrils Park, about an hour from Barcelona. Ryanair flies to Reus, approximately 10 mins away. Our two are 4 & 2 and DD is already getting stroppy we aren't there yet!

Oooh Cambrils Smile the beach is fantastic and the town is lovely (I'm in Tarragona). I can't rate it high enough, although I've never actually holidayed there!

Cabrills beach is lovely!

Have you tried a travel agent?

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 28/07/2014 23:55

ElQuinto, NightSky, any recommendations for Cambrils, Salou or Tarragona? Finally booked this evening, me, DH, and 2 & 4 yr old.

Cambrils: pretty old port, little pedestrian lanes with lovely shops (even the ones selling tourist tat actually look quite nice!), great beach, veeeeeeery long.

You can walk, cycle or rollerblade to Salou (or take a cheapish bus!), bus is about 15 mins, walking about an hour, espevially in this heat. Perhaps not best with young DC! You can hire bicycles, too, with child seats, or pulling one of those little 'pods' , very cute.

Salou is a fair bit cheesier than Cambrils, but again HUGE beach, very long and very wide, with a really nice wide promenade, wide enough for DC to run about without fear of dashing onto the road. There are lots of little play areas along the beach: swings, pirate ships to climb etc.

Tarragona is about 45mins from Vambrils by bus, 30mins from Salou, annoyingly because it actually isn't far! Buses go up and down the main beach road every 15 minutes (I think) and it's around €3 or so, one way, from Cambrils (but don't quote me on.it!). Buses leave you at the bus station.in Tarragona, pretty much the centre.

Tarragona is a Roman city (aqueduct, amphitheatre, circus, forums etc), but it's very cheap to see things and children are vety welcome to.touch, climb etc - nit destroy though! Have a look at wikipedia for Tarragona and feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

You could go to Alicante old town, stay in a hotel in the port and you're in easy walking distance of playa san juan, which is lovely. Nice shady areas to walk and sit, beautiful plazas, churches, buildings and plenty of places to eat at reasonable prices. Also you can get a lift/train up to the beautiful castle ruins that overlook the beach (can also walk up or down- not impossible with pushchair and toddler).

Wherever you end up, have a super holiday!
