Italian herb bread with cheese melted on the crust...

I've just made some and the smell has been driving us potty for the last hour or so now.

Just trying to wait until it's cold enough to slice, but MY GOD it's taking forever!

I'll post a recipie of course, but it was for my breadmaker.

Should I still post it? I don't know if the recipies or quantites vary for each breadmaker.

Partial No. No wine, I don't drink really. Only a glass or two over Christmas. (Childhood issues with alcoholic mother)

The recipie is for a breadmaker, but I'm sure it can used for normal ovens too...just tweek as needed.

For a 2lb loaf on the basic setting.

1 and a half cups of warm water
3tbsp dried milk powder
3tbsp sunflower oil
2.5 tbsp sugar (I used caster)
2 tsp salt (I used sea salt flakes so put a little more in)
4 cups strong bread flour
6 tsp dried mixed italian herbs (recipie in book says 2 of dried marjoram, 2 of basil and 2 of thyme)
1.5 tsp fast action yeast

After the first lot of kneeding, add in some grated parmasan, as much as you like.

Just before the baking stage and after the second kneeding session, add a thick layer of grated cheddar. I think I added this in the last hour of cooking time.

I can't give the quantites for the cheese as I just did it as a spur of the moment thing. I wasn't even sure if it would work.

I wish I could be more helpful and give a proper recipie that will work for everyone.

I'm trying not to eat more as I'm full from dinner, so would be eating for that sake of it but that salty cheesy crust is making my mouth water.

Just remembered. I made it and it was amazing! and it got me lots of compliments. I passed them on to my bread machine.
