to hold DD's party outside even if it rains?

DD's 4th birthday party is on Sunday - when 'showers' are forecast.
Judging by how my DC don't really mind being out in the rain, WIBU to still hold some of her party outside too? I've planned games etc that just won't work inside.
Perhaps if I asked parents to bring the DC's raincoat...?!
Most of the kids are her age, a few a bit older, a few a bit younger.

If it's still warm them a bit of rain won't be a problem. Do you have any covered areas?

Not really, just a bit of grass the size of a large living room. We don't have an actual large living room!

It depends on the guests really, if they are best dress & pretty hair types then no the parents will do a catsbum. If they are as happy as your DD to be outside in the rain then yes its fine.

Can you put up a sun shelter type thing to cater for both? Or perhaps turn the sprinkler on, get the pool out & make it a pool type party so they would all be waterproof anyway? :)

My DS2 would be great in the rain but my DS1 would not be happy, we are talking a child who when given a water pistol last summer wouldn't play with it unless he had his coat & swimming goggles on!

Ah gazebo is a good idea, thanks. I reckon rain will add to the fun though

I wouldn't have a problem with it as long as knew to send in raincoat/boots too. It's warm so the children probably won't really notice unless it's chucking it down.

I think you'll get parents who won't want their darlings out in the rain.

There is no such thing as bad weather, there's only inadequate clothing... as the saying goes.
YANBU - get the marquee and advise the families to dress for wet weather. DCs will have a ball!

I'd go for it but be flexible with the timings and make the most of sun spells.

Tell people. I would have DD there in a Muddy Buddy as soon as spit but some parents wouldn't.

I shoved our huge tent in the garden! The type with two sections either side of a main section.

The weather forecast changes by the hour. We had an outdoor party last Saturday when "severe storms" were forecast for London, but never arrived!

Planned our DD 1st birthday party tomorrow, unfortunately it is a garden party. Thought we had planned it all out as we have plenty of gazebos for rain, but didn’t even think about heavy wind 🤦🏼‍♀️. Any tips hugely welcome as not everyone can actually fit in our house 🙃😂. The gazebo’s we have are the 6x3m party gazebo kind. We have plenty to anchor it down, but just wondered if anyone had experience of what they can withstand or had any other suggestions? I don’t want to injure anybody and am panicking!!

I would be absolutely fine with it, I grew up playing outside whatever the weather and that's how I bring my DC up, my friends are the same, so I don't think anyone would have an issue.

the party was 9 years ago so I suspect it's not an issue now.

As long as you tell people first so they can expect dirty and damp clothes/child. I would then choose to give the party a miss. Mine hate getting wet and wouldn't enjoy it at all. I also wouldn't be thanking you for extra washing.

I wouldn’t think it a good idea to have any of the party outdoors in the rain, while most children will have a raincoat, not all will have waterproof trousers and so will be coming back inside and wearing damp/wet clothes. Given sone if the showers are actually downpours, just no.

Can you facilitate the children changing into dry clothes when they come inside/before they go home and bagging up their wet clothes. 5 minutes out in the rain might be fun but miserable for any longer.
