AIBU?

to think that KFC should do better than this?

My local paper printed a horrific story about conditions in KFC this week (here: //www.falmouthpacket.co.uk/news/11343184.Blood__grease__and_filthy_flooded_floor_closes_Falmouth_KFC/?ref=mr) - how can such a big chain get away with this? Does anyone here take their brood to KFC, and if so is it just my local branch with these problems?

KFC is a franchise, not a chain.

I used to work at KFC in my younger days-they are franchises so depends where you go but the group I worked for were very particular about food standards & shop cleanliness.

It depends who owns the franchise. I used to drive 10 mins further because the closer one was ridiculously greasy even for KFC.

I do love a good KFC though.

It's a dutty fast food place that people fall into at 4am!

Ugh - we just had KFC from one that just opened near us (perhaps the same one vehicle) - I didn't go in so I've no idea of conditions, but the food was awful, so I don't feel I'm missing much by not going again.

If I want junk food I'll go 200 metres up the road to the Macdonalds (which I see them cleaning all the time so I think isn't too bad.

I never go to KFC. All very stingy with condiments, napkins.

Our local KFC was recently in newspaper for undercooked chicken (per council inspection following complaint). cheshire.

I used to get told off for giving out more than 2 sachets of sauce per meal!
I have great customer service and had a nose to nose argument with my team leader about how it was better to spend an extra 5-10p per every other customer on an extra sauce packet to keep them happy than to have a wave of disgruntled customers at the counter blocking new customers because they wanted a few more packets and disrupting the service all round.
He flipped out when he realised I was putting sauce and salt and wet wipes in with drive through orders! Told me I was wasting money, they never drive back for things like this blah blah.

That's why I never go to KFC, and know quite a few others who don't due to stinginess with ketchup and napkins.

All they sell is chicken, and the chicken they do sell is rank. I've no idea how that place still exists!

The only reason I go is the wicked zinger box meal

Last time our family had a KFC we all woke with a raging thirst in the night....must be so full of salt!

Report
Mordirig · 22/07/2014 22:49

They don't salt the chips but the chicken is fried, covered in mayo in the burgers.
The breaded chicken has got spices on it which make you thirsty and then there's the gravy which is fatty.
It's very fatty/greasy which will make you thirsty.
I like the chicken on the bone with the skin off tbh so I just get that with corn and gravy, I think it's probably better to eat that then minced beef burgers in sweet buns like in MCDonalds, but that's my opinion.

Fran, hello my fellow Falmouthian Grin

I saw this in the Packet too. I must admit it's disgusting, but not surprising from our KFC. The couple of times I've gone in there it's always been filthy looking. And they've had historic issues in that building since they opened. Luckily, we live in a place with much better restaurants and take-outs! (Though yes, this franchise should be doing better)

There's some good and some bad. There's two I would eat at in my area as the kitchen is very open and they are constantly cleaning tables/floors. The others are just filthy and would not go in them

Helly Ifffy! I think the Falmouth KFC is probably just a really good advert for the joys of home cooking!!

The hygiene issue aside, they abuse their chickens in the most horrific way. Humane slaughter, okay, people eat meat. But apparently KFC suppliers have been known to often whack the chicken off a wall until it's dead. :(
